I might be wrong but I think that "Smallville" nickname started with the animated series or became popular during that time.

That's correct, Tia.

That's why I said it was her signature line, at least since the 1990s.

Dana Delany is the one who coined it. I don't think Teri Hatcher ever used it, though.
