I think it was the word for me "loony" - it doesn't really give off a positive vibe. So it comes from a place of bullying from other students. But the fact that it didn't deter Luna is just what makes her absolutely amazing.

This is EXACTLY how I see them too. But yes, it's mostly due to the fact that Gryffindors and Slytherins are the ones that are featured the most in the books. Ravenclaw in the faces of Luna & Cho. And then Hufflepuff is Cedric.

I mean, J K Rowling, God bless her, wasn't exactly subtle about it. Red and gold for Gryffindor, followed by green and silver for Slytherin, as opposed to blue and bronze for Ravenclaw and like, black and yellow for Hufflepuff. It's just math!

I haven't tried reading a fic about these two actually. I only read (mostly) for my canon ship but wouldn't mind reading some for these two nowadays.

Most of the fics I read are canon but I have also read for non-canon ships of course.
