Finished!
Spoiler:

I can't wait to see it performed! Hoping that rumour is true and that it will come to Toronto before it hits Broadway!

J.K. Rowling has said that the play will perform internationally.

A good review from Mashable: 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' is a fitting swan song

Now we wait for Warner Bros to green light the movie.

My mom just bought the book and I already done with it after almost 4 hours of reading!!!!!!

It was much faster to read since it was a script and not the usual style of book. And yeah, it was so obvious that Jo didn't write the book

It won't be a feature film. But they will record a performance of it, that I have no doubt in my mind. Again, this production isn't told through Harry's point of view like the other books and the film series. We see everyone's perspective. The play is meant to be seen live. For the audience to be within it themselves. The sound effects are all around them. The lighting and music and projections on the back add to the experience. This is something that just can't work as effectively if it were made into a 2.5 hour movie. That's why they went in this direction. A movie would have been too easy.

I agree Swift2Potter, it was marvellous.

This is obviously going to happen. The only question is when.

My best guess is that they'll announce start of production a year or two after this play's inevitable initial Broadway run...and they'll time it for maybe the year after the "Fantastic Beasts" Trilogy ends...

IMO, there's is no way that Warner Brothers passes up the opportunity to make this into a film, provided they have the rights to the material. It's a guaranteed cash cow for them.

As for play vs. film; plays are adapted into films literally every year...In fact, some screenwriters are of the opinion that plays are far easier to adapt into films than novels...

They may have to wait till the original film cast are in their 30s.

They may use different actors?

I'm not sure, for example, that Emma Watson would ever agree to reprise Hermione.

And one important actor in particular could not possibly be reused for a rather important sequence in the play, since he's deceased...

Well they did recast Dumbledore after Richard Harris's passing.
