I really don’t like is how time-turner is used as a plot device. Why get back to that when Rowling destroyed every Time-Turner in the books? In the 3rd book Rowling gave all this restrictions how you can’t go back in time to make drastic changes - it prevents you from asking why in the world no one then tried to go back in time to prevent Voldemort from becoming an evil wizard or why Harry never tried to go back in time to save his parents or Sirius, or any other loved one that died.

And now the boys go back in time to save Cedric, with Time-Turners that somehow still exist. I just don’t like it. We already know this is bad, why go back to it again…

the thing i hated the most though in the book, was cedric diggory storyline. i'm sorry but i don't buy it. it serves the story but makes no sense. cedric diggory was a kind and brave boy who treated harry with respect and would never EVER have sided with voldemort over a contest or because he got ridiculed a couple of times. he was the pride of the hufflepuff house and was perfectly fine with helping harry in the maze and winning first place with him. he deserved better than this "editing" to use his character as a plot driven mechanism. nobody, not even jkr herself can make me believe that his boy would turn evil, a death eater and a killer of a young boy, no matter how convenient that worked out for the story.

GoF was nearly as teen angst ridden as this one, I think. Especially the whole Yule Ball thing. Again, it looks different reading it but I think the Scorpius/Albus bromance works in the play.

No, no, don't get me wrong. I am not talking about the angst, that is all ok. But it is certain dialogue that boys share that is very unrealistic and yes, it has a gay vibe.

"To the depths of your belly, to the tips of your fingers. I truly believe Voldemort — Voldemort couldn’t have a child like you. You make me stronger". "You may not have been there, Albus, but you were fighting — fighting alongside me" - I mean, who talks like that? Even if Scorp said that to Rose, it would have still looked cheesy and unrealistic - I just never ever could imagine boys talk like that towards each other. Harry and Ron had bromance going on but they never talked like that with each other.

And a lot of people who have seen the play say that the potential romance is even more evident in the play because of the way the actors act it out - apparently there is one scene where Albus and Scorpius stare at each other with longing - many say it is a really romantic scene, that it is hard to interpret it differently.

I don't think not being with Ron is the only reason that Hermione was bitter and mean in the AU. Yes, that's one reason but I reckon there's also something else which we'll probably not find out.]As I ship RHr, it may look like fan service to most people but seeing as they are secondary characters in this play, I will take every moment they have over nothing at all.

However, it is specifically stated that things changed because of kids' mess up - Rose doesn't exist because Ron fell for Padma and in the next Hermione is a wanted warrior because Voldy won. These are certain things the boys changed. You can fill in the blanks in your head if you want but the play does imply why Hermione is bitter - because of the boys messed up certain things that caused this. This is what I mean when I say that every book or play could fall under "but we don't know everything" - that can be only solved by filling the blanks yourself if you wish but the play does imply Hermione is bitter and alone while Ron has a failed marriage Padma - why it happened? Because of boys mistake that caused Rose not to exist, that is the only thing that changed. I hope you get where am I going with this.

It just bugs me that it does look unintentionally sexist - Hermione was a very strong character in the book, it was all about girl power. Heck, I even think that she could have achieved becoming a Minister sooner without a man in her life. But again, there is no reason why Hermione wouldn't also fall in love with another man. Not to mention I already mentioned here that I don't get why R/Hr wouldn't realize they like each other more than fiends when they went to the Yule bale together, I hate that jealousy had to be the trigger point. I hate in general that sometimes jealousy in the real life is so highly valued, like "oooh he is so jealous, he must love me a lot" - I just hate jealousy, period. Which is why it annoys me that in HP jealousy is considered as a trigger point for romance.

UGH same. I'm like "Why this particular moment?" If they wanted to stop Voldemort from killing the spare, they should use the Time-Turner to go back in time and do something so Voldemort's parents don't meet. But again of course if that happens, then another alternate universe will happen so basically, don't mess with time and let everything be.

Well, I agree that this is a fan service. I'm pretty sure they searched or read fanfiction stories before they started doing this. It just feels so nostalgic to ready anything Harry Potter again. I just miss JK's detailed description.
