That is the beauty of fiction, people always have different kind of interpretations to the scenes. What I say doesn't mean I am wrong, I just see it differently.

But one thing that makes me wonder: why does Rose also have surname Granger-Weasley? It is normal that Hermione has 2 surnames but I always seen examples in real life where the kids carry only father's surname. I find it a bit strange.

No one is right or wrong. We're just sharing our opinions to have a conversation. If we all agree on something, we wouldn't talk about it. It's the variety of opinions that makes it special.

As for Granger-Weasley. I was so thrilled when i saw that. It shows that Ron and Hermione are the kind of couple who go against stereotypes or traditions that doesn't apply to the modern society. Hermione took Ron's name but she kept hers as well and so did their children. I'm not saying it's wrong to take only your husbands or your father's surname, but it's also not wrong to keep yours or to keep both. In my country you must have your father's surname only and if you get married, you take your husband's name. But i don't agree with that. I'd love to have the freedom to keep my surname if i get married, but i can't. So i really love the example that Ron and Hermione are giving here.

I also loved the fact that Hermione kept her surname but I was just surprised the kids took the Granger surname also, that is all.

Yeah it's completely normal for kids to have both names. It's upto the parents to decide that and obviously Ron wanted to honour his wife by agreeing their children should have both names. It shows how much respect he has and had always had for her.

I did! I loved it. It was the first midnight release I've ever gone to. When I got the books as I grew up, I always lived in really rural areas with tiny bookshops - they never opened at midnight and I never thought I'd get the chance, so this was a really lovely experience.

ETA: The official website for the play has been updated with a gallery of all the official images and videos in glorious HQ: http://www.harrypottertheplay.com/gallery/

Done with Part One. Hopefully I'll be done with the book later. It's also very obvious that JKR didn't write the book. I feel like watching Doctor Who while reading it: I'm getting used to the New Doctor.

I am a bit bummed that there's not much of either James, Lily or Hugo on this one. But that's expected since this is a focus on Albus. I already have some things I like and don't like but I'll discuss once I finish the book.

I get what you mean, I feel the same way. I don't watch Doctor Who so I don't get the example but to me it reminds me of all those Simpsons specials where they change things and then everything goes back to normal. Even if it is obvious Jo didn't write it, she still agreed to it all and decided to brand it as the official 8th story. I think that is the reason why so many have nagative reactions. I don't think anyone would have minded much if this was simply a nice addition to the HP universe and I'm sure this play would still be a huge success regardless.

I felt like some of the characters are OOC (like Harry & Ron). But yes, I don't mind it as an added canon to the HP universe. If people wanted things to end in DH, then I respect that. We don't need every Potterhead loving everything Jo approves.

I have a lot to say but maybe it will be better to wait until spoiler tags come off.

I hate when now some people claim that those who hate is because it is not a full book but a script, that they simply don't get it. It is not about that, I have my own reasons why the story disappoints me so much, it has nothing to do with that.

You can say them under the tags. Let it out. But I haven't finished the book yet so I'm trying to be careful reading the tags here.
ETA: Sorry, I forgot to explain the Doctor Who reference. Everytime there's a new Doctor, he's scrutinized, criticized and everyone is judgmental. So reading it I was also looking for loopholes and things I can criticize later on.

I will be absconding when the spoiler tags come off. I already know some spoilers (I went looking for something to tide me over) but I'm seeing the play in December and I'm going to try to not read the book before then. I hope everyone is enjoying it!

Fantastic review of the script from the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/books/chi...complement-to/
