That's perfectly okay. I loved reading them again. It's amazing how much her character has increased from the PS/SS.

I like the idea of voting on our top 5 quotes for each book. That could help us keep the thread going. We could do discussions about them and Ginny as we go along.

Yeah, that sounds great. Top five from each book sounds perfect.

Leo, thanks for taking out the time to post all of those.

But now it's going to be difficult to pick just 5. Especially from HBP. PS/SS is a cinch I don't think there are even 5 Ginny moments in the book anyway.

Back to editing....

Yeah, it's going to be tough to pick only 5 in HBP, hell, even in OotP. I was going over some OotP Ginny moments and I love so many of them! Yeah, we will be hard pressed to find 5 for SS/PS.

Top 5 sounds great... but I want them all!!!

Maybe we can actually separate them. Here is a thought... we keep in here the ones related to Ginny, just Ginny and the H/G ones can go to the Leo's thread... that way, we spread turfs and we have more quotes.
Also, that means that people that ship Draco/Ginny, Neville/Ginny and that won't feel too upset. Cause we're neutral.

Waht do you think?

Okay well lets start with the easiest. Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone. It might be best if we quote the chapter and the page number for favourite moment. I don't have the US copy so I'll be using the UK version (which is what we get here in Canada).

1) Chapter 6, pg. 69 UK
'Now, what's the platform number?' said the boys' mother.
'Nine and three quarters!' piped a small girl, also red-headed, who was holding her hand. 'Mum, can't I go...'
'You're not old enough, Ginny, now be quite.'

2)"Oh, Mum, can I go on the train and see him, Mum, oh please..."

3) The train began to move. Harry saw the boys' mother waving and their sister, half laughing, half crying, running to keep up with the train until it gathered too much speed, then she fell back and waved. Harry watched the girl and her mother disappear as the train rounded the corner.

This is a great, however brief, introduction to Ginny. She's so eager to go to Hogwarts and knows that she's miss her brothers. This shows us her desire for fun and new adventures and how important family is to her. Being the only girl in a family filled with boys must be tiresome but she's sweet enough to express that they'll be missed.

ETA: oops sorry about the lena, I just saw your post now. We must have been posting at the same time. That's a good suggestion. Keeping this top 5 only Ginny. If Harry is in the moment we must explain why it's a good Ginny scene not a H/G scene.

Wow, I never knew that you guys get the UK version in Canada. You learn something new every day.

I agree with how we should keep things a bit separate whenever listing the moments/quotes.

^Same here I think the separating quotes idea would help us with choosing the Harry/Ginny scenes and the Just Ginny scenes!

Also Amy I think those quotes are great for book one!

Leo, I love your icon, btw.

I've said before that Ginny's my favorite character. What intrigues me so much about her is the transformation she went through since day 1. It took us a while to get to the "real Ginny" because of her intense crush on Harry, but sure enough, we got there in OotP and beyond. It was so fun to see the beautiful journey JKR went on with Ginny. She was never a main player in the first several books, but she was always a strong secondary character even if she only had brief appearances in earlier books. Her appearances were always well known and I loved how JKR always made us aware that Ginny's presense was to be noted. I just love how JKR nursed the character of Ginny. Her natural progression from the shy, crushed little girl to the "real Ginny," the strong, witty, gutsy, funny, warm, compassionate one that we all came to know and love in OotP.. Beautiful stuff.

Sorry, just sort of babbled some of my thoughts in a free flowing way.

Bottom line: I adore Ginny. My favorite character, hands down.

Same goes for me. JKR had a way of writing that even if Ginny was not written all the time in the books, you just knew she was there.
And I guess that is related with Harry being the main focus of the book. He knew she was there... even if she was not next to him.
And all the other references the characters made of her: the twins, Neville, Luna, etc.

JKR was brilliant in letting us know Ginny was around, even if it was only in a very subtle way. You're so right, JKR wanted to do this by also making us aware of the fact that Harry knew Ginny was there. Great point about the other characters making references to Ginny. So incredible true.

Yeah, JKR knew what she was doing with the character of Ginny from the start, and even, H/G for that matter. In her interview, she comments on how she always knew H/G would get together in book 6. Right there, that tells you JKR knew from the start what she was going to do with Ginny and H/G in this series. It was well planned out, in her brilliant mind since day 1.

I got quite excited when I saw this shot in a TV spot for GoF. I love Ginny and Bonnie is my favourite female HP actress.

It's great isn't it? I'm getting really excited to see more of Ginny in GOF. I was thinking about the DVD ( I know it's too soon to think about that yet but...) and how cool it would be to get an interview with Ginny amongst the other Gryffindor kids. Do you think it's possible? Or will we have to wait until OotP where she plays a more prominant role to get a interview with Bonnie?

POA had some of the boys (Matt, James, Oliver, and Devon). It's time to let the Gryffindor girls talk.

OMG I just pictured Katie and Bonnie having a joint interview talking about Dan and romance in HP. Wouldn't that be fun? Whomever they get to play Luna could be there as well.
