Spike listened and cared that Buffy wanted him to stay. He didn't leave unlike the other men in her life. I don't count Xander.    __________________

Buffy's dad and Giles abandoned her and he was a father figure.
Angel and Riley are the boyfriends. Spike had to turn to dust to leave her. OMG!  I think all of them mean more than Xander anyway to her in the big picture. I hate to say Riley but for her he was important because Buffy felt it was her only chance to be with a normal guy. __________________

I think if someone wasn't important to her, they wouldn't be in her life. So that was her way of telling Spike how important he was to her.

The thing is all the others except Xander affected her self esteem/ self worth and the way she looked at love.
Joss even said Spike is incredibly important to Buffy and vice versa. This was not about the Comics. __________________

I only do now because Spuffy is happening.
In fact if Joss wasn't still involved I could see them actually being happy together and even endgame. Then again I could see that on the show too because all the writers wanted Spuffy together by the end of Season 7.  __________________
