Well, I dont think he would be proud but he never made a big deal of how he used to be before. Hmm, actually Wesley is not an open person so I think he feels bad about it but he wouldnt show :/

Yeah, that's likely. He'd brush it off, but squirm internally

Yeah. Wesley isn't really the kind of guy who goes all touchy feely and want to talk. But I think he carries a lot of stuff in him.

I know its mean that I say this but he is the poster child of daddy issues :/
At first he wanted to impress dad. Then he wanted to get away from him but still make himnproud.

But he never tried for a clear break, of sooner opposing his father, and everything he was about, as much as possible?

No, he didnt. It was hinted he had a complicated relationship with his father though. I guess he needed to finish maturing before being able to do that.

it reminds me of an internet adage I came across, that most men spend their lives either trying to make their father proud,, or fixing their father's mistakes.

Not sure how true that will be irl but in fiction, and in Buffy, it is. At least the ones whose father is shown or mentioned.

Yeah, it seems to hold big fictional truth. parents at all seems to be a difficult topic for most people in the Buffyverse. I mean, do we ever see a whole and happy family on the show?

Yeah, but we hear them arguing at times, and he some times alluded to having a violent father, I think.

Yeah. In the earlier seasons I had the impression that his family troubles were worse than Willow's

Why is it always fathers causing the troubles in series though? In fairytales the mayhem maker use to be the evil stepmother

No idea but its true. Daddies are the evil ones.
To be fair we lack stepmothers, unless you count Anya to Randy
