I'll never understand shippers wanting a 2.0 of their ships. Each ship being different is what makes more ships so great. You can always find something in one of your ships even if you can't find that thing in another. There are ships for everyone to hit everything they're looking for.

I can understand in some cases if a ship was done poorly in one version, hope for it to be treated better in the new version if there is similarities. But each ship is unique in their own way.

. Sure some things can look cute & draw you in from promotionals but that doesn't mean you'll actually enjoy them as a couple in a show

This. It's true that you can like a "type", but with this show people looked for the new CB since it was announced

and as soon as Safran said Audrey was Blair-like and Max Chuck-like everyone was like oh the new CB, I ship them!

It happened the same with lunet, people shipped them before the show premiered (like Maudrey) and then everyone got disappointed when they found out that the writers never discussed the idea even, as Safran said. With Akimax I had a vibe from pics, but then I saw them interacting and I started shipping them.

Hmm that I do not understand as well, because you can see bits and similarities of them but they cannot be exactly the OG couple. But I understand the motivation, because we miss them and with the announcement of GG reboot people first of all looked for OG couples, mostly CB. Who will be the new Chuck and Blair of the show, was the question...

I understand missing them, at first people wanted the reboot with the same characters of the OGs, basically a GG of people in their thirties. I miss NS as well, but this is a different show

GG has always been about ships, so it was obvious that there would have been something for everyone without having to copy the past ships.

I like when reboots put their own spin on ships/characters. Just because it's a reboot doesn't mean it's gonna be a carbon copy... as it shouldn't be. Reboots are new versions while revivals bring back the OGs. This being a reboot, not a revival, so it shouldn't be surprising that it's different than the OG.

I'm like if I wanted to see the old characters, I'd watch the OG show

even in Nikita, which was a reboot, but the title role was the same of the original, they found a way to make it their own and new.

Charmed reboot started off really well with their own witch/demon pairing for example. Obviously there was a strong parallel with Phoebe/Cole as one would expect as there were clear signs (right down to similar powers). There I could understand people comparing as they had the signs. Here though not so much. The similarities between Audrey/Blair & Max/Chuck aren't as strong as like with Phoebe/Maggie & Cole/Parker on Charmed.

I can respect missing & wanting more of a couple. Or better treatment. But I also if I want to watch CB I'll go watch the OG. Don't need it with these two. I'll respect & be happy with what we get with them

(although I'd ship other components of the throuple sooner than these two alone but I can appreciate each part still)

Without wathing the show, I do like them from a far, especially with fanvids and some parallels with CB that fans are making. Ilaria always tells me that they are different characters and not even have a couple material

Also you are right Chelle. Reboots and revivals are different things

Yeah, at least they did this in GG, although I'd have avoided even the simple name parallel, to avoid that. Sure, people would have probably seen it anyway, but at least it would have avoided all the discourse they're endgame because they're the reboot CB and Josh knows that.

it kinda reminds me years ago people on Tumblr who used to reblog popular ships stuff from show they didn't watch saying that they shipped them by continuing to see their stuff on their dashboards

The thing is the show, according to Safran, builded up the throuple since the beginning, so despite everything, the various twosomes of these three didn't get a lot of developement, except for Akidrey - but they were the only pre-existent relationship.
Still Maudrey were the ones who got less developement in that sense anyway, I mean Akimax at least got something in 1a (that completely desappeared in 1b), which was surely linked to Aki's bisexual awakening.

That doesn't mean they won't have some in S2, but in S1 all the shippers I saw on social media ship them only because of the CB argument

I disagree about the "12 episodes build up", though, because yes, there were feelings hinted, but the real build up started after episode 6, in my opinion and it wasn't even that good, because it was suddenly just a we want to date you because we can't stay together without you, we need a third and we didn't find another one like you

It certainly wasn't the 12 episodes. May have been their intention, but didn't translate over imo either
