218 was an okay episode, not the greatest.

i felt bad for dean actually, Rory so obviously isn't interested anymore.

219 was a great one! loved the focus on rory/jess and jess!

lorelai way overreacted to the car accident and she shouldn't have freaked out on luke. that wasnt fair. its not lukes fault what jess does. and the accident wasnt even jess' fault.

i hate that luke just lets jess smoke though.

220 was alright. not my favorite episode. i found it pathetic that rory couldnt just tell dean what happened she had to write him a letter about it? so weird.

but i love that she stood up to lorelai about jess. jess is a brat but he wasnt responsible for the accident.

221 i didnt even know lorelai was in school.

sucks that rory missed her moms graduation. but i did love her scenes with jess, they were really cute.

222 great finale!

rory/jess kiss  omg one of my favorite moments on the show. it was such a good kiss!

on the other hand i hated the chris/lorelai kiss because i dont think its smart to dredge up the past again. especially when he's still with sherri. no bueno. and now she's pregnant, yikes.

way to end on a cliffhanger!

Gonna do this again because I finished season 2!

Favorite/Least Favorite Character
Favorite this season was Jess! I thought Milo was a great addition to the cast and he fit in perfectly. Still also loved Rory, Luke, Lorelai, Emily, Sookie, and Paris as well.
Least favorite was Dean, yet again.

Favorite/Least favorite couple
Rory/Jess! God I loved their build up and interaction. Still loved LL too but they were a bit angstier this season it seemed.
Least favorite was Rory/Dean. It was hard watching Rory lose interest. I felt bad for him.

Fav/Least fav friendships
still the same ones from last season. rory/lorelai. paris/rory. lorelai/emily. also liked the interactions with jess/luke and luke/rory.

Favourite/least fav Storyline Arc:
favorite was after rory realized she had feelings for jess and all their interactions.
least favorite was probably anything involving richard. i like him small doses but not when the focus is on him.

Favourite/Least fav Episode
Favorite episodes were 204, 210, 213, 219, 222
least favorites were probably the first few regarding max and the wedding, and maybe 211 and 218.

Most shocking moment? Saddest moment?
saddest was maybe all the rory/lorelai and lorelai/luke fights, as well as dean realizing rory had feelings for jess.
most shocking im not sure. maybe the accident episode because the show never really went to that extreme before.

What were you disappointed with?/what would you change/have done differently?
once again i wouldn't chance much, i like how the show progresses naturally and everything seems to stay in continuality. i maybe would have had more L/L friend interaction because there was a lot of anger this year. And i think sometimes they make Lorelai too childish.

What storyline/relationship/character/etc. would you have liked more development for?
i think lane was kind of in the background this season and id liked to see more about her.

What do you want to see happen next year?
If I didnt know where it was going id have said:
-l/l's romantic storyline making quicker progress.
-rory/jess dating.
-rory graduating from chilton.
(again all these happened)

How does this season compare to previous seasons?
Really great season, I am not sure whether I liked it more than season 1. I liked season 2 because of Jess and Rory/Jess but i preferred LL in season 1 and most of the season 1 storylines so its tough! I'd probably say season 1 had a tiny bit of an edge for me.

Lindsay 10-28-2015 09:26 PM

Congrats on finishing S2.

Kbranagh 05-29-2016 12:38 PM

i guys, i'm new here! I'm a big fan of Gilmore Girls since...ever.. and for the revival i start my personal rewatch of the series.

The season 2 is incredible, even better of the first season. Every episode is a great episode, very but very rare this kind of costant quality in television week after week. The force and the vitality of the two Palladino is incredible and always surprise me.
The episode 21 with Rory and Jess in New York is a little cult for me and in the final scene maybe we found the longest monologue of the series...not by
Lorelai but Rory.

22 Umbrellas 05-29-2016 05:00 PM

^ Welcome! I've always loved Rory's lengthy and meandering monolgue at the end of that episode. Hilarious.

I did a re-watch of this season a few months ago. Collectively speaking, I still maintain it's the best season the show has ever done. "Road Trip to Harvard," "Run Away, Little Boy," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," "There's the Rub," and "Lorelai's Graduation Day," are all classics and some of my favorite episodes.

Talula78 05-29-2016 07:59 PM

 Yes, welcome! I'm trying to recall what that monologue was about? I think I'm going to have to replay that scene to remember it. But it's great how much you love the show and are introducing yourself now, we LOVE having new people to chat about this awesome show with.

Season 2 is definitely in my top 3 favorite seasons of the series, there are a ton of strong episodes.

Lindsay 05-29-2016 08:58 PM

That monologue is great.

shyjamie 05-29-2016 09:38 PM

Season 2 is my favorite season mainly because i am team r/j.
It is so well built up and the last episode melted my heart.
However I don't remember rory's monolog because I just watch until r/j kiss then I feel too bad for Lorelei(since Christopher leaves) so I stop watching further.

22 Umbrellas 05-30-2016 02:10 PM

^ The monologue is in the episode before the kiss. It's when Lorelai gets back home after her graduation that Rory has missed because she was late getting back from New York. She basically goes on about how the whole night she was sitting on the bus next to a guy who was spitting into a can and she kept thinking about the myriad of ways she should be punished for missing Lorelai's big day and how she even forgot the album she bought for Lorelai as a gift and it was signed by Belinda but she can find another one and that's going on the list, too. Then she rambles on about how this behavior is not like her at all, and maybe she had a stroke: "What does a stroke feel like?" Lorelai: "Not good, probably."

That is one of my most-watched scenes, probably.

shyjamie 05-30-2016 09:10 PM

Oh I got the whole episode wrong. :embarrassment:
Yeah that monolog was really intense and Lorelei looks like she's about to burst into tears. Loved their acting in that scene.

 Ah yes, yes! Now I remember! That was a pretty great scene for Alexis.

Ugh, the end of season 2 kills me with Lorelai getting her heart broken...again. :(

Lindsay 05-31-2016 02:36 PM

Alexis was great in that scene.

I feel bad for Lorelai as well.

Alexa 05-31-2016 09:26 PM

rj were so good in season 2.

Lindsay 06-01-2016 09:52 PM

They definitely had some great moments during this season.

Yay for graduating on to season 3, I'm watching that season as well right now.

Slayerette89 10-12-2016 03:07 AM

:bump:

Just finished 2.13 rewatch.

- The parallel-ish sl with the Gilmores and the Kims is an awesome idea. This show is so female-driven and that’s one of my favorite things about it. Also, can these women all be one big family? I'd so love to see scenes of them all together.

- Lane has always been my fave chara and her part really moved/upset me.

- Henry’s been such a charismatic minor character for me that I can’t fully dislike him for what he did to Lane, especially given I kinda see his point. But getting another prom date was not cool at all imo.

- Can’t really dislike Mrs. Kim either because she obviously has good intentions. But both hers and Emily’s approach to parenthood creep me out.

- Jess used to be my favorite male character and I can see why (the books, the music, the wit, the anti-authority thing Lorelai mentioned). But I’m also reminded of how much of a jerk he could be. Not fan of the romanticized bad boy tope nor of good girl fixes bad boy trope, so I hope this show is too clever to write Jess and Rory/Jess like that. (I did ship them back in the day, but dunno if that will change.)

- Still props for “Ayn Rand is a political nut.” During my recent oth rewatch, I was  at a book of hers being passed around without such a comment. I needed this. Ney for Hemingway though. (Jess does kinda generally loves those meh male writers, though? And Paris calls him out on it at some point? I kinda vaguely remember something like that, but I could be wrong.)

- Speaking of good lines, Lorelai: “Patty gave my picture out to all these guys because she thinks I need a man.” Luke: “You do, one with a nice couch and a deep knowledge of Freud.” I love Luke.

- This episode also reminded me why I used to dislike Dean. I can see his perspective more and am generally more sympathetic to him this time round. But I still don’t like his attitude and behavior sometimes.

- Jess and Dean are both aggravating this episode I hope they don’t keep it up. I prefer liking characters to hating them.

- When I separate my personal distaste for living together and/or marriage from the story, I guess Sookie/Jackson subplot was ok.

- Lol Kirk.

Lindsay 10-12-2016 06:35 PM

 I love that Luke line.

Slayerette89 10-14-2016 01:47 AM

It was awesome. Lines/dialogue writing is definitely one of this show's strong points.

I’ve binged my way through the rest of s2.

- The second half of s2 is the beginning of Lane + drums. Love that sl.

- The way Paris, Jess and Dean intruded on Rory’s space and time when she wanted to be alone on the night Lorelai was away is the reason why I don’t answer the door or phone when I’m determined to have my alone time. Ppl love to ruin it.

- Still, there was a Paris/Jess lit discussion in that ep that I vaguely remembered. Liked that scene.

- Dean and Jess both tested my patience at times, but I ended the season not disliking either. Dean I can’t fully dislike because he’s genuinely a decent person most of the time and Jess because his anger at the world is relateable.

- When I first watched, I shipped Lorelai/Christopher and I can see why. They have amazing chemistry (best on this show imo), know each other and just click so well. However, I also still think he’s super irresponsible and unreliable. She’d be better off if she could just get over him completely once and for all.

- When I first watched, I also shipped Lorelai/Luke and I can see why too. In comparison to LC, they have different but equally compelling dynamics. I think that relationship would have more chance of working because Luke’s more dependable. But sometimes I also wonder if maybe they are too different to make it work for a long time.

- Paris is kinda growing on me as a character. I’ve always respected the way she was written and portrayed, but lately I even find myself kinda liking her.

- I’m beginning to see the appeal of potential Rory/Paris romance too.

- Lots of good lines in all eps, but the following stands out to me: Sold it all, made enough money to do some traveling. Have you ever been to Israel? Turbulent, I know, but I thought I'd go down and try to plant some peace down there, know what I mean? See if it grows and see if it spreads. :lmao:Before I saw a documentary about Haight-Ashbury, I thought ppl (including writers, both high and pop culture) were exaggerating to make a point about how the hippie subculture was too detached from real politics/too idealistic/ineffectual. But nope. Hippies have literally said things like this. No need to exaggerate.

- Also, No, definitely not a jersey guy. Though the thought of throwing a ball at some jock's head isn't entirely unappealing. Look, I'm not really good at this small talk thing.

Swift2Potter 10-14-2016 09:40 AM

Season 2 has wittier lines than Season 1, IMO.

Jess has really bean a good addition in the series (youve got to admit!!!!), he actually has the wittiest lines.

And of course, I, being bias, has enjoyed the build up of Rory/Jess and obviously, Rory is really attracted to Jess, like she had this entire season resisting Jess and keeping her relationship with Dean alive.

I wish we saw another Paris/Jess interaction.

Talula78 10-14-2016 09:49 AM

I do admit to liking the chemistry between Lorelai & Chris this season and wouldn't have minded if they had gotten together then instead of s7. Ultimately it was always Luke & Lorelai for me, but I knew they needed time to build up their relationship and would eventually hook up so I didn't stress about it. IMO Chris would never last in a long term relationship with Lorelai when Luke was around, those two clashed too much. Besides, Luke will always be her number one in her heart no matter what history she had with Chris.

They DO end up writing them like that, that's why I was never a fan of Jess/Rory and that awful trope. :irked: However, having said that, I do love the character of Jess in relation to Luke, I just don't care for him with Rory. But to each his/her own. :)

FrellingTralk 11-17-2016 10:23 AM

I thought the show did the opposite with Jess and Rory actually, he still remained messed-up in season 3 (and ultimately leaves the show without telling her), and he wasn't always a very attentive boyfriend either, so I never saw it as Rory being the one to fix Jess. If anything it seemed like Luke had the biggest influence on him there, but of course he was meant to have mostly fixed himself off-screen as well after season 3.

I think that Logan is more an example of taming the bad boy, because Rory did make him want to commit to her and end his casual dating, but Jess still remained essentially Jess when they were dating
