I think my current icon fits very well into this thread and it's one of my favorite moments between them. Luke is so awkward with his hug but he's truly happy for Rory there.

So, I've just begun the 5th season & to see Luke SO protective of Rory when they were out on that double date w/ Rory & Dean. He WAY overreacts but it's sweet at the same time as soon as he explains himself at the end to Lorelai. He wants the right guy to be with Rory. God, how I adore Luke.

I love that Luke is protective of Rory. I also love his 'speech' during the proposal scene, wanting to make Rory go to Yale. He's such a great father figure.

He's always got Rory's best interest at heart.

Even though be bungles things often because of that care for Rory, you can always tell his heart's in the right place.

I just watched Wedding Bell Blues and there's a perfect example when he attacks Chris for not being there for Rory. I was cheering him on in that scene for sure!

I just watched 2.20 Help Wanted where Rory goes into the diner after her accident. I just love seeing them alone. Like in season 6 when Rory went in and Luke told her he and Lorelai were engaged.

Here's to hoping there will be lots of Luke/Rory in the revival!
