Yeah. I mean, he was planning on telling her how he felt, after Rachel had left and he'd gone to get his toolbox from Lorelai's. But then Max showed up. And then the next day he figures out Max proposed.

True but I think he might have been really thinking about what Rachel said and thought this was his chance, even if Lorelai is with Max.

I would love to have seen Lorelai's reaction if he told her. In a way I'm glad he didn't tell her then, but I also wanted to see what would happen if he made his feelings clear that early on.
