He did! He had the airbending thing down perfectly, but he just couldn't manage the other side of things.

He's so knowledgeable because he's studied so hard on the subject matter to try and make it work for himself

And he definitely put in the work to try and get there so it's too bad he wasn't able to in the end.

I felt really bad for Tenzin again next episode when he has to tell Pema about Jinora too

It must be awful for him to not know what Jinora is going through and he can't easily get to her.

Yeah that's got to be really scary. Since he hasn't been to the spirit world he was no idea what it was like there or where her spirit might be. And she's still pretty young too (despite being very mature)

And the Spirit World really hasn't been itself lately which makes it all the more stressful to have her there

I watched the next episode and he still seems so stressed about it (rightfully so)

It was interesting, though understandable, to see how aggressive he was willing to be to get Jinora back.
