Yeah we have some of the highest cooling costs in the country. That's why a lot of retired people here rely on fans or pools. Because it's just too expensive to run you air conditioning all day or night.

I can just imagine

I know my landlady probably had a higher bill over the summer with Central Air and previous years a pool but she sold that earlier this season

Price you pay living in the desert I guess.

But the good thing is that 6-8 months out of the year, you don't need AC, or only need a little bit each day. So as long as you plan to save for those really bad months, then it's not awful. But that's easier said then done.
