Like...what childhood betrayal? Was his dad an ex-member of TRB?? I think the childhood betrayal thing comes out in 1x09 because of the description.

Your dad being an ex member of a terrorist organization is definitely a big betrayal. That might be it.

That actually would be a cool twist...but why did they save it for the end of the season??!!?!

They might have wanted it to launch them into a season 2. Too bad that's not happening.

They should have focused more on making the first few episodes interesting than worrying about Season 2. The lack of ND connections and obsession with "glossiness" didn't work out so well for them...

Yeah from the way they're pacing things it seems like they were really confident they'd get a season 2. But that didn't do them much good.

I still wonder about the validity of that one 2-season tweet by the writers. Where do you think that came from? Was there some sort of expectation/handshake deal? But then The CW sale happened? Remember TS had been in the works for a WHILE....hmmmm.

And when they originally deleted it...I thought maybe they were just waiting to announce it at Upfronts...but then they didn't.

I wonder if maybe they bought scripts for Season 2? And that was the origin of the 2 season thing?

How often do shows get renewed that early? A network would order more scripts for the current season that's airing. Excluding mid season premieres like TS. Empire was renewed very early for S2 because it was a freaking blockbuster. CBS and WB depends on streaming when it comes to the CW. So, Tom Swift was "renewed" before really seeing the streaming numbers?

Apparently the network did love the show creatively...but it seems like they were completely underwhelmed by how poorly it performed especially on streaming.
