It was what she needed, imo. He's on her side, even when she's wrong.

I loved how much the scene focused on them, they have a great relationship. And I love that Ben never burdens her with his issues, he clearly struggled with Olive calling Danny instead of him but he didn't show how much it hurt him until he talked to Grace.

He would never put that on her, and I love that about him. He's parent goals, tbh.

So true + he even kept her secret of not telling Grace about what happened. As a parent, he should tell Grace but the fact that he kept the secret means he respected her wish even if it was wrong.

In terms of Grace's attitude towards Olive as it seems to be, maybe not telling her was what was best for Olive's self esteem, but as he isn't really aware of that, he should have kept Grace in the loop. I think he sees that Olive is struggling with trust etc. though.

It’s not like he even got a chance to tell Grace. He just said Olive was fine and upstairs when Grace started assuming he was never going to tell her. We knew he was not. But Grace didn’t. It was a weird exchange all around.

Yeah, it kinda was. She didn't really wait and see if he was going to tell her.

It’s like she felt guilty about seeing or talking to Danny so she wanted to start a fight with Ben to make him the bad guy.

It goes back to that comment Ben made about his mom. If she had gotten angry, then he could take his guilt and place it as anger on her. I feel that is what Grace was doing. She felt guilty so she went to turn it into anger towards Ben so she could justify going to see or speak to Danny.
I do feel that Ben is the only one trying to understand what is going on with Olive. But then he has Michaela who views herself as a screwup, so he has experience. I would like some Michaela and Olive bonding. Last edited by Austenphile; 10-21-2018 at 07:19 AM |

We were meant to get some Michaela/Olive in episode 2 but I guess it was cut. We really need some, though. I think they could both help each other.

^ Oh gosh really? We really do need a scene with Michaela & Olive. I don't think we've had any yet right?

Yeah, there were promo stills released. We don't seem to have had any outside of cut scenes. I think I'd remember if we had

I feel like the reveal that in episode 2 the person Olive wanted her mom to let go of was her Dad has actually soured this relationship for me. And it was my favorite. I get she sees Danny as her Dad. But she is not even making an attempt to let Ben back in her life. And we have seen from flashbacks they were close, so it’s not that he was a deadbeat Dad. The way she is treating him now, she is making him unwelcome in his own home. I get she’s a kid, Danny has been there for 3 years, etc. but Ben wascthere for 10 and didn’t choose to leave. She can have a relationship with Danny while not kicking her father out of their lives. I am going to need more than what appears now to be a manipulative lie about not wanting Ben to see her as a screw up to repair this relationship.
