Season 8, it clearly didn't exist. Ruthie/Peter and Martin/Cecilia were the pairings and the age difference was obvious that season. lol Don't think the writers even thought of a Martin/Ruthie dynamic then. lol

I love that Martin father, Beau saw that Ruthie was in love with him.

A lot of time in offscreenville.
He's really been around for like 6 months now.

And Martin/Ruthie friendship only grew during that time... so I'm assuming he saw something during that time.

This is exactly why I wanted to see more of Martin's father in general.

So the awkward hug in the season 9 finale pretty much showed the hidden feelings and than Martin's father returned and he moved away from her however, Martin and Ruthie proceeded being close but than Martin went away for a week with Simon and that's how he met Rose and Sandy and obviously ended up having that one night stand with Sandy....

And all went downhill after that. lol

Everyone has figured out Ruthie's feelings besides Martin at this point though. lol
