This is true. My mum has my dad's, but I find it creepy, but alas, I forget about it most of the time, though its been 2 years. But I don't think its strange that Kate has them, as my aunt and my sister has some of my dad's, so really its whom would prefer them.

I forget about them sometimes, but my mum wants the rest of my dad's to go with hers when she passes. I mostly forget they are in a box underneath the air cooler in the living room

But apparently many people do this. Especially elder women whose husbands have passed. Feels like a part of them is still there..

Exactly, I don't think we can assume from that they ended up getting a divorce. There's other reasons why Kate would want to keep the ashes instead of Rebecca.
