I was sad to see Ireland leave so early too, but I think they'll be around for a bit.

Japan has had a perfect WC so far, it's crazy. 11 goals, no goals against....they could be scary.

I did not get up for the US game, but I heard it was so terrible and that they were lucky to even come out with a draw. Saw something that said the goal post was the best player for us
i'm more casual about it than i used to be, but yes, i do watch.

with both canada and brazil out, plus the USWNT barely scraping by, it feels like a changing out the guard. have to admit it's refreshing to see some new blood though. other countries have caught up and not all the "premiere" teams seem to have kept moving. japan and england are still looking strong though.

carli lloyd threw so much shade at the team and i don't blame her. they look like they don't even wanna be there.

Canada, Brazil and now Germany is out too I'm SHOCKED. I'm really happy for the teams that are making it though. It's really great to see.

Yea Carli wasn't too far off. But I do think they shouldn't be criticized for being happy that they advanced, or for staying around and signing stuff for the fans that traveled.

I don't think it's bad to be happy you pulled it out, but definitely shouldn't be pleased with just scraping by. Though maybe it's a bit better in perspective now with so many big teams getting knocked out in the group stage.

I don't wanna watch US and Sweden play each other again though. Feels like it's always them facing each other.

Exactly! I think they can celebrate they made it, especially the big teams that were eliminated But I'm sure they have to know they did not play to their best.

Ugh i know I hate it literally every big tournament

Exactly

Unfortunately I am way too exhausted to wake up at 5 AM to watch the whole match, but I'll be up at 6 AM. I hope I wake up to a good game.

I think US had the way better play during this game than sweden. They should have easily won 4-0. But have to give credit where credit is due to the sweden goalkeeper. She kept them in that game. And then we completely muffed up three of our PK's, the keeper didn't even stop them Just not our day.

Oh, yeah, I definitely think the US outplayed Sweden, even if all things considered this was the best of the worst of US's play this world cup. BUT Sweden's keeper was lights out and the US absolutely missed so many crucial moments (especially in PKs) to earn the win.

Just have to shake my head at those missed PKs. What can you say except we need to bring in better coaching and let the vets retire.

I watched most of it until right before spain scored in extra time, then I feel asleep But man, spain should have won that game with like 5-6 goals if they could have finished. How some of their chances didn't go in is beyond me

Sad to see Japan out though

Wow that would have been so great to see!

Looks like England and Australia will be battling it out. I'm still rooting for Australia. And then rooting for spain on the other side
