Here is the first update from Wimbledon.

First of all, we already have some upsets as Yulia Putintseva defeated Naomi Osaka 7-6(4), 6-2; Jiri Vesley defeated Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5; Thomas Fabbiano defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-7(8), 6-3 and Magdalena Rybarikova defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 6-4.

Things were more orderly in the other matches as Nole, Simona Halep, Stan, Kevin Anderson, Karolina Pliskova, Milos Raonic and Elina Svitolina won their matches in straight sets.

So that's the story from the early matches at the All England Club.

In the matches in progress, 15 year old Cori Gauff is leading Venus Williams 5-4; Kyle Edmund is leading Jaume Munar 6-4, 2-2 and Gael Monfils is leading Ugo Humbert 7-6(6), 6-3, 4-6.

Caroline wants Andy Murray to be her mixed doubles partner. That would be fun to see I think. Her opponent apparently didn't make it through their match today Caroline won with 5-4 being the final score of set 1. Wow. I haven't seen any matches today thus far. Am checking out scores though. So Ostapenko & Venus Williams lost today. Wow.

It would be fun to see Andy and Caroline!

I can't believe how welll Cori Gauff played to beat Venus Williams. She looked so confident.

Cori Gauff was so impressive yesterday. What a huge win for her.

Muguruza lost today. Seems like not too long ago she was ranked in the top 10. Who does Gauff play next if you know?

Here is an update from today's matches Wimbledon.

First of all; Nole, Karolina Pliskova, Caroline, Milos Raonic and Vika winning their matches in straight sets, while Kevin Anderson defeated Janko Tipsarevic 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-4; Simona Halep defeated Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 and Cori Gauff defeated Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3, 6-3.

We got some more upsets as Reilly Opelka defeated Stan 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 8-6; Fernando Verdasco defeated hometown favorite Kyle Edmund 4-6, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3,6-4 and Polona Hercog defeated Madison Keys 6-2, 6-4.

Lastly doubles got underway with the noteworthy result being 2002 Men's Singles champion Lleyton Hewitt teaming up with compatriot Jordan Thompson for a straight sets win. Good win there for Rusty.

So that's the story from today's matches at the All England Club as 15 year old Cori Gauff advanced to the third round.

Tomorrow, former champions Fed, Serena Williams, Petra Kvitova and Angelique Kerber will be in action along with French Open champion Ashleigh Barty, Kei Nishikori, Sloane Stephens, Marin Cilic, John Isner and Fabio Fognini. Also Rafa will take on Nick Kyrgios in an intriguing looking match at Centre Court and in doubles, the Bryan Brothers will begin their quest for a fourth title.

Kerber lost. Not sure what is up with all the german tennis players at the moment. They suck.

Here is an update from today's matches at Wimbledon.

First of all in the men's singles quarterfinals, Fed defeated Kei Nishikori 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4; while Nole defeated David Goffin 6-4, 6-0, 6-2; Rafa defeated Sam Querrey 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 and Roberto Bautista Agut defeated Guido Pella 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Meanwhile in mixed doubles, Andy Murray and Serena Williams' run came to an end as they were defeated by the top seeded team of Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar in three sets. It was a good run while it lasted. At least Andy got a couple of wins and his hip responded well to the point that he is now planning an eventual return to singles.

So that's the story from the All England Club.

Tomorrow will be the women's singles semifinals where Elina Svitolina will take on Simona Halep and then Serena Williams will face Barbora Strycova.

I'm super excited for Roger vs Rafe Friday morning. It will be the first time they're playing at Wimbledon since their epic encounter in the final 11 years ago.

Let's go Simona Halep!:D

Unsung Hero 07-12-2019 12:16 PM

What a game between Federer and Nadal. :thud:

Ms Cyatt 07-12-2019 02:40 PM

The match between Roger and Rafa was fantastic. Some many back and forth points. The last 2 games of the match was so intense. It's always so great watching the two of them play each other. It's pretty crazy that epic Wimbledon final was 11 years ago and here we are today and they're still playing each other.

Sulieter 07-13-2019 02:37 PM

Wow! Simona Halep was so amazing. I'm glad she won. She didn't show any signs of nerves. It was like she had made a conscious decision to concentrate throughout the match and not let anything affect her.
