I mean it's pretty easy for celebrities that identify as straight to say how much they support it. Nothing really comes back on them.

Allies are great but they aren't the people that go through it. Only means so much from them. That's why it's such a big deal to have people you can see yourself in.

I agree, though I still think it's nice when straight celebs support the lgbtq community even though they don't face their struggles. Better than being indifferent and a lot better than anti-lgbtq celebs.

i agree with Gabriel. allies are always appreciated and welcomed. better that ignorant people who just don't give a **** about anything and anyone.

Allies are great. But they are not more important than having out celebrities. People you can see yourself in, and see them being successful. It is nice and lovely.... But yes, they will never understand what it is like to be out... To be bullied... To be outcasted because of who they are. Its just words at the end of the day.

It's like that year when macklemore was a lgbt hero cause he sang a song. 100%, great for him. And thank you for all the money he raised for lgbt charities... But there were lgbt people fighting for the same thing and were over looked, because they are not popular straight people.

No one is saying that allies aren't good. Not at all. Nowhere did I say we'd rather someone anti gay would be better.

But my point stands. It's easier for someone straight to say they support something like this, cause there's no come back.

Yeah, just look at some actresses they come out and lose work. That doesn't happen when someone straight supports lgbt causes.

Thats always worrying when you start a new job. Do you go honest or open, are you careful and reserved. It's like coming out all over again.

I've never really fully come out, but people know? Like my friends and family for the most part know that I've dated girls and guys, but I've never really said on Facebook or anything. I have on Twitter, but that's like... fandom friends.

I'm not really sure if I would be out at work, I haven't told anyone at my current job, it can be very iffy especially in the area that I work.
