I'm hoping I like it better than season 3...As more time rolls by, I like season 3 less. It was fun, but it felt more like fan service than previous episodes. Plus there was the whole "how did Sherlock survive" which they conveniently decided not to answer.


( I look like I'm not a fan. I think my expectations were just really high after season 2)

S2 was the best and you're right we're waiting something better (at least in S3.1) but I must confess that I love the last 2 episodes (even though I missed Moriarty and it was the disgusting Magnussen)

I think out of the 3 eps in season 3 my favorite was episode 2.

I can't say i share that opinion but I definitely understand it, in fact, it's a sentiment shared by many in the fandom. Even Moffatt admitted that series 3 was definitely lighter than series 2 was and than series 4 will be. As far as I'm concerned I really enjoyed it, even if I agree, the fan service was a shame. They sometimes forget that the online fandom and the most ardent fans are only a small part of their viewers. Many are just regular watchers who don't really get the jokes.

Exactly it's no secret that I adore Sherlolly and I thought their kiss was hot but since they are never happening no matter what I feel like they were most likely teasing and reliving ship wars on the internet more than anything else. Now clearly everyone sane will know that the last solution was the only correct one but still
I was a glee fan back in 2011-2012 and their writers had the same problem, so much that in the end they alienated both the fans who ended up hating the show and general public.

Fandom as a whole has become very demanding though. I can see why writers are going there. Probably the best thing any writer on a show can do is stay off the internet. When they start trying to work their show around the whim of the fans it usually goes badly. They should tell their story and then stay off twitter.

I agree with Rae I know it might be tempting to give in to people but not if it hurts the storyline and the quality of the drama. I feel like Moffatt now sometimes takes short cuts with his writing, i mean the end of the last series of doctor who, was I found, lazy.
