Interesting article about overall ratings on CBS shows for the 2016-2017 season. Scorpion wins the prize for biggest jump from DVR viewings. I guess a lot of fans can't stay up late to watch it - be are dedicated to catching it later.

For what it's worth, the News show, CBSN: On Assignment, that CBS premiered last night didn't do as well as the Scorpion reairs have been doing in the 10pm time slot.

I'm a little worried... I've read a lot on SpoilerTV that several "fans" won't watch the episode since it has a musical number on it. This musical number may make or break the ratings for the premiere. Hopefully, however, the number of people who love musical numbers in tv shows outnumber those who don't.

Real fans should watch anyway! It's not like the whole show has changed into a musical. I think they're taking a bit of a chance with the musical number - people will either love it or hate it - but that shouldn't stop people watching the rest of the show or the rest of the season.

I always say if you don't like a show you shouldn't watch, but it does confound me that people who claim to be fans would not watch because of a musical number. It's not like it's going to be the entire episode. Very likely that part will be no more than 5 minutes or so.

Wow, the ratings are really bad for s4e1. A terrible drop off from last season, and they lost views from the lead in, which they almost never did before. the lead in was bad enough, too! NOT GOOD!

Yeah it's a poor lead in.

But I still think we will be fine after a DVR lift. Most people if they're long time viewers of one show and a series premiere is on at the same time, they're gonna DVR the show they're familiar with and tune into the series premiere. And Scorpion was against two series premieres.
