I have had THE most awkward day at work.

8:00 am - I arrive.
8:40 - customer's bill is $24. He is going to pay with a ten and fourteen ones, then decides to pay with two tens and four ones because "I need the singles for this weekend." Boss (58 year old woman) has no idea what that means. I explain where he's going. She then asks what they do with the singles.
9:00 - I'm thinking the day is significantly awkward.
10:00 - I'm taking inventory and don't notice a customer coming in. I hear him close the door and jump, startled. I whirl around and can't think of what greeting ("how are you today?" or "is there anything I can do for you today?") to use, so I blurt "hi, how can I do you today?" Thankfully he hears what I meant instead of what I said and just says he's good and would like some deer carrots.
10:01 - I am wishing I could disappear

It's now 2:45 and I don't dare think "it can't get any more embarssing" because that means the last three hours will include SOMETHING to top this morning.

I seriously needed a laugh this afternoon. And as sorry as I am that you had such an awkward day, I did laugh pretty loud at this.

Just the same Hope the rest of the day was uneventful.

You can at least be glad that it was the first story that happened in the presence of your boss, and not the second one.
