Personally I guess I just don't feel it's the type of scene you'd be expecting to see a spark in. He's telling her he just found out he has a 9 year old son - it's more 'I'm confused and need advice and I've come to you because I really trust you' than anything else.

Yep I think if nothing else they're showing a really lovely friendship with Scarlett and Gunnar again. And before they got together they had such a wonderful friendship so it's nice to be getting back to that. Plus while he's with Zoey I wouldn't be expecting anything other than friendship.
And yes that was so cute that she knew. And also hilarious how Gunnar just blurts out about Micah  __________________

I thought that scene was well done. Too short, but still, it did show their history and their newly refound friendship.

Yeah I mean I'll always enjoy having longer scenes but under the circumstances it made sense for it to be a brief scene at the start and then for Gunnar to go off and act on her advice with Micah.
