^The plan is to fly down that Saturday (going by our flights around here we would arrive at like 9pm) and the cruise ships out Monday so we would be there in case anything were to happen. After last years fiasco I'd rather be safe than sorry and go down two days in advance (it'll give us one day in Miami).

That's what I said but he's honestly just sucking up because they have nobody to cover. I've honestly thought about trying to cancel the cruise and only doing it for a week or two (the two jobs). Today he was a jerk again .

I'd be quietly cautious of your manager if I were you Sandy, sounds like he's the type to be nice only when it benefits him.

My line manager quit last week, I thought we were close but she literally told me two days before her last day so I guess not. She was hired to manage one shop and I the other but I somehow got roped into doing both for a while last year and now that she's gone they want me to do both again and I really don't want to. It's really awkward for me because I don't drive and the public transport sucks and also I feel like I can't run both effectively because there just aren't enough hours in the week. And I co-ordinate volunteers to help me and they need support too and I feel like I'm not giving either enough time. I spoke to another boss the other day and told them emphatically that I don't want to do both and he agreed and asked me to put it in writing which I did and emailed him. He asked if I could oversee both until they get something worked out and I agreed (I didn't have a choice really). Now I'm worried that they're going to drag their heels about it.

I've taken next week as a holiday because I owed some and to get away from it for a week.

I could, Kathrin during orientation. I've honestly just thought of canceling it out, Amaya would rather see me home during the night than a cruise but also asking when the best time/good time would be, that might be the better idea. I'm a debater though so I'm still debating

I plan on it, Fiona. I told our other manager today I'm going to be a "hello" and "see ya tomorrow" person to him short and sweet and to the point.

Fiona, I hope that they don't drag their heels and that it all works out. Maybe if you know anyone you can make the suggestions. I honestly hate jobs that want you to do everyone else's job plus yours all for nothing. I did that at Walmart for almost 5 years and every year at eval time I was told I don't work good enough (if you're still working at a place you must be doing something right though in my opinion.). Enjoy your week off, you deserve it especially if they're going to have you do all that they are

^I am sooo excited. I went and ordered two new pairs of sneakers (I'm in desperate need) and can't wait to get new pants (need black dressy ones I think) for the job . I'm just curious what kind of shoes to wear for orientation? It says dress in business casual and shoes need to be laced and clean. I don't want to wear sneakers but I also don't want to wear flats in the snow and freeze my feet off. What would you all wear? I can wear sneakers and change into the flats but I also don't want to do that in orientation.
