You know one of the most interesting things about Mer and Alzheimers its am obvious route either way, people are expecting that she won't get it, just as they are expecting them to give it to her because Shonda loves her pain, so in a way I think they certainly really get to entertain the possibility in the writers room as to which route they take, and thats if the show ends before that point.

I selfishly dont want her to get it because it will be too sad. And it's not just her, or Derek... but Zola and Bailey too.

For me, one of the main points of the entire show is what an extraordinary person Meredith turned out to be despite being the neglected daughter of Ellis Grey. She is the anti-Ellis in many ways (as a wife, mother, friend, colleague). So, it would be a not-so-clever ending for them to give Mer the same tragic ending as Ellis in my opinion. Here's hoping the writers are smart enough not to do so. Especially since Meredith is constantly worrying about getting Alzheimers - it would be sort of cliche at this point to go ahead and give it to her.

I certainly hope they come up with something else as well, but if they7 did do it it would be either Derek cures her or its not alzheimers but a brain tumour mirroring the symptoms or something, that would keep us in suspense.
