On this day 7 years ago:

Amy Dumas/Lita made her 2000 WWF debut at a Sunday Night Heat taping in Austin, Texas! The debut was then aired the following Sunday on February 13th marking her official television debut. Lita accompanied Essa Rios to the ring, where Essa defeated Gillberg with a moonsault to win the WWF Light Heavyweight Title. Lita then shocked the entire crowd when she jumped up on the turnbuckle and mimicked Essa's moonsault, delivering one of her own!

Update regarding "The LuchaStore"

Amy posted a new bulletin on MySpace explaining the problems the Luchagor's online store is having:

"SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!- Yes, the luchastore is messed up. It shouldn't have been made accessible yet. BUT... we are gonna fix it and make sure all the Luchwhores (just kidding!) will have all acess to the store. We got our buttons in and stickers so we are going to add those. I apologize and I guess I should put web designer on my 'things to do' list so I could take care of it, but I am at the mercy of the Masta, I mean the webmaster. Patience my young grasshoppas I need to learn that one myself as I am so anxious for our website to be up too! Recording is going killer! I am so proud of what out band is becoming. We have grown so much since the demo that is up on our page, I can't wait til you guys hear it. Tell all your friends- Spread the gospel of the Luchagors! Talk @ ya'll soon" ~ Amy

THE REAL AMY DUMAS on MySpace!

She also posted her first blog on there as well:

"Hi guys, welcome the only personal page I have on myspace. I have been so busy with my band, The Luchagors, I have been slacking on putting this up. I will get new pics for you guys soon, but I need help putting them up, so give me a minute. I have my first appearance since my last day in the WWE, next Sunday, the 25th with MCW (Maryland Championship Wrestling). I used to live in Washington, DC and worked and trained with them before ECW and WWE. I am excited and nervous about it. It is always good when I am there, but I'm sure leading up to the event I'll have my nervous spells. It will be good to see everyone there. I was a valet for Danny Doring in ECW, as well as Christian York in MCW, so it will be a double reunion for me. I promise I will read everything that comes through here, so lemme hear ya!- I will post again shortly, talk at y'all soon!-" ~ Amy

Jim Ross Mentions Amy (Lita) in Blog

"Lita is feeling great and is going to wrestle some independent dates, but from what I understand, doesn’t want to wrestle a full-time schedule which might see her ending up in TNA or at least that one of the more topical rumors. I can still remember the interview I had with Lita when she came to my office in Stamford, Ct. to interview for a job."

Baltimore Sun Interview: Q&A with Amy Dumas

Anyone who has ever watched Amy Dumas, formerly known as Lita, perform her acrobatic, high-flying moves in World Wrestling Entertainment knows that she isn't afraid to take risks. Dumas perhaps took her biggest chance yet last November when she left WWE after nearly seven years to pursue a career in the music business. The former women's wrestling champ is the lead singer of the Luchagors, an Atlanta-based punk rock band. Dumas, 31, hasn't walked away from the ring completely, however, and she will make an appearance at Sunday's Maryland Championship Wrestling show in Dundalk.

What went into your decision to leave a highly successful career with WWE?

It felt like it was time to at least see what else was out there. It's a job that you have to give 110 percent to be successful at, and I just felt like I didn't have 110 percent to give anymore. I feel like if I would have stayed longer with WWE I would have started to resent my time there, because you're so inundated with the schedule and everything.

How did you feel about your breakup with fellow wrestler Matt Hardy and your involvement with Edge [Adam Copeland] becoming public knowledge and then being played out in a WWE story line?

That whole thing was just such a hard time for me. When you go through personal problems, it's hard enough as it is, but then to have every aspect of your life out there and to feel like everybody knows your business when they really only know such a small percent and they're passing judgment ... there were definitely days when I didn't feel like getting on the plane to go to work.

How often are you appearing at independent wrestling shows these days?

This is my first independent wrestling show since I left WWE. I trained with Maryland Championship Wrestling before I made it to WWE, so I think it's fitting to go back to where I started.

How did the Luchagors come about?

Music has always meant a lot to me, and I've always had a bunch of friends in bands. I was talking a lot about [forming a band] and finally some friends of mine just called me out. I had already agreed to sign autographs at a rock and wrestling benefit show in Atlanta, and they were like, "Why don't you get a couple songs together and play?" I couldn't come up with a good enough excuse not to. So I just went for it. It opened up this new creative avenue that I've really immersed myself in.

How would you describe your sound?

As far as bands that people have heard, I'd say something like the Ramones, the Misfits, with some Rancid and maybe a little metal influence. People say Joan Jett a lot because my vocals are raw like hers.

What are your plans as far as touring and recording?

Right now we're just playing about once a month in Atlanta. As soon as our record comes out, we'll pretty much go everywhere. We're in the studio now, and our record should be out in March. [Bassist] Rachel Bolan from Skid Row is producing it, and he's been teaching us so much. Putting myself in a vulnerable position in which I could fail has been really challenging and refreshing.

New 'Amy Blog

Hey guys, just wanted to say hi and tell you about what is going on. I worked with Maryland Championship Wrestling last night. It was good to see some old friends in Danny Doring and Christian York. So, York is a magician now........., who knew? It was also fun to be able to interact with the fans on a casual level and have some freedom to just go out there and have a good time. I am doing 2 shows for Hermie Sadler's group UWF, this weekend as well. Other than that, I have been super busy with recording The Luchagors 1st album. We are all still in the studio and being taken to school everyday by our producer, Rachel. Our songs have come so far since we began. We are all learning so much and becoming a much more dynamic band. I can't wait for you guys to see how far we have come from the songs on our myspace demo. You guys sent me an excerpt from something the JR wrote about me. I really appreciate the kind words from him. I always got along and respected him. He shoots straight and is sincere in his words. I do feel as though I contributed a lot to the wrestling business, and I understand "Lita" left the WWE as a heel character. However, the human being Amy Dumas, gave a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to the WWE, and I am glad that someone that the same person that hired me, acknowledged that. On a separate note, I brought my new camera to the MCW show, but I forgot to take pictures! So if you guys have any pictures of me from anything that you think I should put up, send them my way. Talk at y'all later. xxoo, Amy

Lance Storm Mentions Lita:

Lance Storm answered a question about Lita on his website:

Q: What are your thoughts on Lita? I think the way they made her go out was a slap in the face. I think it was unfortunate that the only time she was a heel in the WWE was right before she retired. So when she left, it wasn't really a big deal, fans booed her out of the arena and chanted names about her that I probably shouldn't repeat here. She truly did re-defined women's roles in professional wrestling, and I will always think of her as one of the best Women's champions of all time.

A: Lita was a big deal in the progression of women’s wrestling in WWE and I like her a lot as a person but you know what, wrestling is wrestling and what happens on screen is a WORK. Jericho who was a really big deal left RAW kicking and screaming and looking like an idiot too.

I understand what Lance POV but I still don't think it was right how Amy was treated in her final match in the WWE.

Jeff Hardy Talks About His Relationship With Amy:

Jeff Hardy recently did an interview with The Sun. They asked him about his current relationship with Amy (they refer to her as Lita of course), because of the situation that happened between her and Matt.

Jeff said he doesn't talk to her much now, but his girlfriend (Beth) and Amy exchange text messages. He says now that she's gotten away from the ring, he wishes her the best in whatever she does, he says the situation had nothing to do with him, she was always like a sister to him and she still is, but it's hard not to think about what happened between her and his brother.

I was always curious about how and if they got along at all now, and from the looks of it....they hardly talk now. Which sucks cause they used to be so close...like Jeff said he always thought of her as a sister. But one thing Jeff is loyal to family so I can see why things aren't the same....I only imagine they are the same with Adam (Edge) too.

Jim Ross Mentions Lita Once Again

Jim Ross talked about women's wrestling in a recent lecture:

A female student with pink hair (which I mention because J.R. had some fun with her about her choice of hair color) said she had done some research on women in wrestling and wanted his thoughts. After telling some stories about Moolah, Mae Young, and how tough they were/are, J.R. painted a bleak view of women's wrestling. He noted that even in Japan women's wrestling is on the decline and that WWE is more interested in the Divas providing sex appeal for the largely male audience. He said he didn't want to disparage Trish Stratus and Lita's accomplishments, both of whom he is proud of as he signed them, but he indicated that Trish and Lita both saw where the company was headed in terms of how women would be used. Lita and Trish wanted to wrestle but he said they recognized the company's direction. "One wanted to get married, the other wanted to heal from injuries." This facilitated their choice to leave the company. He was not remotely optimistic for the role on women in WWE as wrestlers.

- credit amy-net.org

That's just sad, we all know WWE has always been that way but this sucks since women wrestling was was getting so popular and almost taken seriously. With the likes of Lita, Trish, Victoria, Melina and a few others helping to take women wrestling to another level. But for what.....when obviously they prefer for them to parade as eye candy only.

Fan Encounter with Amy

- The fan commented on how he didn't like her WWE "send off". Amy said she was a bit surprised that she didn't get more respect on her way out and felt like she was being "forced out". She says she feels like she made the right decision by not resigning with the WWE.

- When asked about a possible TNA run, she said it's definitely a possibility, she was contacted by them but right now she just wants to relax and tour the indys before joining another fed full-time. She said if she does go to TNA it will be because of the people and friends she knows there and the fact that they have such a great schedule.
