Zosia said they're deciding between two different next steps in terms of releasing the series but didn't say what they were. I'd imagine the fact that it's an anthology series plays into their options (for example, the episodes stand alone, so they could be staggered pretty far apart rather than released at once). Also, I'm a bit unclear about Refinery29's role. Did they just commission it, or are they broadcasting it as well?
I hope we'll find out more soon!

The stories of FABLED take us through feminine journeys of transformation, all of which are touched by the many different types of love that we encounter in life; self-love, romantic love, friendship love, familial love. As our heroes are nudged by the people around them in their searching, they all ultimately realize that self-identity and purpose has to come from within. It is one of the greatest adventures in life to face ourselves with honest perspective.

What I love most about FABLED, however, is that it dives deep on all of these issues of purpose and self-identity without ever being preachy or overbearing. The four stories float on elements of fables with which we are all familiar, which helps our tales unfold in a subtle and poetic way.

We are visually diving into a world that presents magical realism side by side with the raw emotions of self-actualization. We see two teenage girls fall in love in high school; we see a transgender woman blossom into her true self; we see two friends find the power of unity, and we see a woman who has never had a child become a mother to a teen who needs her. The internal and intense emotions that these characters experience are manifested in visually heightened and magical ways. This allows the audience to experience the internal life of these characters in a very tangible way.

I feel so honored to be a part bringing these stories to life. I feel like as artists we need to put stories in the world that help us start to re-envision a possible positive future. We are surrounded by so many very real threats to our sense of self and purpose on a daily basis. It is important to present art that suggests that the path to a better life and a better world starts from within, and then is enhanced by supporting each other. The women in these stories, build each other up. They support each other. They encourage each other to flourish. We all are fallible. We all make mistakes, but with a strong sense of self and a willingness to be vulnerable enough to support each other, we can begin to transform into a more empowered and positive future.
