It takes place at some kind of facility, maybe a psychiatric hospital? There was clear care in setting the scene, the camera traveling through the hallway and giving you a glimpse inside different (but all very neat and tidy) rooms. Everyone lines up daily to take a red pill, which are lined up neatly on a tray in little paper cups. The sound of a clock ticking is in the background of almost the whole episode, right up until the end, contributing to the feel of the institutionalized setting. Everything is very precise.

Zosia plays Alice, a patient there. She has a Rubik's cube and she has painted all the boxes white. Her doctor asks her why it's all white, and she says, "So the colors don't get mixed up." She seems surprised when the doctor replies, "But that's the point." (Norbert Leo Butz is the doctor, and I love him; I wish he had more to do here, but again, I realize it's only 15 minutes long!) Alice is a talented painter. She loves arts and crafts time (it seems like a popular activity there, but she's particularly skilled at painting). She talks to an older woman who doesn't seem to communicate at all with anyone else (and no one else sees the woman talk to Alice, so it appears as if Alice is just making up things the woman has said). If anyone else watched the TV show Girls (Zosia Mamet played Shoshanna on that show), Alice seems similarly a bit high strung and focused on details (though she's not as extreme as Shosh, and she's kinder). Alice sees magical things that other people don't, and that's where the animations come into play. She sees a flower bloom in her hands, and she sees a statue of a dog blink.

Dorothy comes to the facility, and Alice watches her arrive through her window. Dorothy seems to have a problem with authority, and she's not thrilled to be there. She first sees Alice when she (Dorothy) is sitting outside on a bench with the doctor and Alice is wheeling the old woman around in her wheelchair outside. They appear curious about each other. In arts and crafts, Alice compliments the house that Dorothy constructed. They both then look at the house (made of popsicle sticks maybe? I can't remember), and they both see smoke coming out of the chimney. They look at each other, realize that they're seeing the same thing, and realize that no one else sees what they're seeing.

The old woman is the one who tells Alice "Everyone wants a magical solution to their problems, but they refuse to believe in magic." Alice and Dorothy decide to run away together, and the old woman stages a distraction by performing a nonsensical song or poem (this is a woman who never seems to speak). This gives Alice and Dorothy a bit of a head start before the doctors chase after them. The clock has stopped ticking during their escape. As they run outside of the building, the ground beneath their feet sprouts magical flowers where they step. It's a beautiful image (the music in this scene is gorgeous, too; in fact, I loved the music throughout the episode). Dorothy reveals the doctor's keys (attached to a pocket watch), which she stole, and they run to the doctor's car (which they also steal). They drive away, full of joy, and the last image is of their car traveling away from the institution. It's a joyful, magical final scene.
