It was frustrating watching Jane admit his feelings to himself, but insist in his belief that he would be a danger to her, or that he wasn't good enough for her.
It's the only thing about Pike that I liked. He gave Jane the kick in the pants that he needed. __________________

I think even in season 1 we saw hints that he was concerned that it would be dangerous for him to get close to anyone.
