It made me realize I could've actually enjoyed them much more all these years if they had been written more like a couple and less like comedy relief. I'm really glad we got this little moment

Agreed. I didn't mind Donnie in S1 when we didn't know he was her monitor and they just had normal married life problems. After we found out he became so much less interesting and just really stupid.

My friend (who also hated 5x05) and I were talking about how much we hated that Cosima and Delphine were still talking about the same things and how childish Cosima still was, etc, and suddenly she said "even Donnie was more mature, Alison said she needed time for herself and he was like okay I get it, go" and I was like "are you saying Alison/Donnie actually had a better written scene and more mature dialogue??? ", I can't even believe the conversations I'm having this season

And to be fair, Alison has tried to leave before and Donnie has convinced her not to do it.
