{Quotes}
This is a place TV hasn't visited before, where you want to linger, and people you haven't seen
on TV before whom you want to know better.
- USA Today

One of the best-written, all-around sparkling works to come along in many a summer season. - The Wall Street Journal

An hourlong seduction. Great writing and acting create a heady mix of glamour, irreverence and responsibility,
a word rarely associated with a sexy drama.
- The Los Angeles Times

Captures that utterly fascinating transformation as he explores 1960 in New York and America at
large, and marks "Mad Men" as essential viewing.
- The San Francisco Chronicle

Mad Men is mesmerizing, and its pedigree is as authentic as the period it re-creates. - The Houston Chronicle

The magic of “Mad Men” is that it softly spoofs those cruel, antiquated mores without draining
away the romance of that era: the amber-lit bars and indigo nightclubs, soaring skyscrapers, smoky
railway cars and the brash confidence that comes with winning a war and owning the world. It’s a
sardonic love letter to the era that wrought “The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit” and “The Best of
Everything,” but homage is paid with more affection than satire.
- New York Times

Crisp as a martini yet spicy as a Bloody Mary, the intoxicating Mad Men goes down smooth and
gives great afterglow but also can leave you with a hangover of unease.
- TV Guide

“How glad I am that the message of smoking, drinking and whoring Mad Men puts across has
registered with the TCAs.”
- John Slattery

No other series transports you to another time and place like this drama. You can almost smell the
smoke billowing out of the offices. Long for a drink when the ice clinks in the glass. And think back
to a time when cell phones and text messaging didn’t exist and typewriters ruled the workplace.
- Zap2it

What makes the show soar is the wonderfully intricate storytelling with some career defining
performances. This show oozes perfection. This is TV at its best.
- Zap2it

The series is a social commentary on not only that era but our era as well. Everyone has a Pete in
their office. Works with someone who isn’t all that he claims to be. Or can relate to wanting to get ahead
despite all obstacles.
- Zap2it

With so many television programs that just seem determined to out-scream the next, "Mad Men"
is like a refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot summer day.
- MSN

Terrifically acted and gorgeously produced, this is a show that's both funny and frightening, that
can simultaneously make you miss the '60s and feel blessed that they're gone. If it were an ad for
scripted TV, it would persuade you to invest. If this is the future of TV, the future's looking good.
- USA Today

Guys! I'm scared! I think I might have missed the first episode of s2 last thursday! I watched the last 15 minutes and I couldn't recognize the scenes at all from s1...and then I realized that one scene was capped in s2 spoilers! Did I miss the pilot episode?

Wow, the opening-post is marvelous. I love the presentation. And thread 4 went by so quick I´m surprised!

Feelings about tonight´s episode: IIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven´t been able to think about much else in the last three days or so. I doubt I will be able to get any sleep tonight at all I have to read the reactions tomorrow

Mad Men- what are you doing to me.

I though Trudy and Pete were cute in the opening. But I had the feeling that they are more friends than in love. I didn´t think the candy-thing was so bad as people made it out to be. It made me laugh. It was an excellent scene.

I´ll have to wait a bit. But I can´t wait to hear what you guys think of it

Argh, I should take 5 sleepingpills and head off to bed. Not so sure it will help though. I have eyes like plates.

My take of ep 1 season 2. (taken from my LJ, so it might be a bit fangirlish)

I´m in love with Mad Men. I have actually managed to watch the first episode of season 2 and I loved it so much.
It was amazing from beginning to end. I loved seeing the girls make themselves ready for work. My pretty girls! Peggy looks awfully prettier this season I think. And Pete. Wifey helping him with his cufflink before he gives her a little smile. *swoon*.
I loved that some of the guys still treat Peggy as less worthy. Brilliant. I wouldn´t have wanted it any other way. And that Peggy is a "little over" the other girls and seeing as such by Joan. Still got that big machine in her small office:-)
I am happy Roger is back to his old self.
Fat farm! I love Pete. I adored him in this episode. All his scenes were grand. But I think my favorite was the Pete/Trudy scene. I think he was sweet to her. Like they were friends. Teasing her in the end with the chocolate and wanting one for himself. He is beyond adorable!

I also loved the Kennedy-presentation. Don, Sal and Joan watching it together with their partners. Sal with a girl! That was the best. Also a "Yay"-moment for me, but anyway, then they skip to Pete, who is watching sci-fi and reaching after chocolates. Such a great contrast to all the "adults" before him:-)
I love the guys nervousness about the younger ad-guys. And may I add, that I hope they never hire them? They were annoying. LOL. Pete´s office scene were awesome as well. Him laughing when Paul says Peggy doesn´t count and then the whole exchange about having kids. I don´t think Pete have an idea that Peggy was pregnant. She only looked fat. I would be surprised if he suspect anything. Pete is smart when it comes to certain things and just pretty when it comes to other things.

Something I found interesting was Peggy and Dons little brainstorming. They are such ad-men! But even more than that, when Don want to try the child-approach, Peggy immediately say´s it´s sentimental. Almost as she get´s defensive at once. Very interesting.

Betty´s lipstick in those dark scenes when her car broke down. It was captivating:-) It was a good scene. I think Betty have changed. She seems happier. More confident. But still seeking approval or something. Remember last season? She was awkward letting a man into her house, but now she used her femaleness to get help cheaper. I wonder what that will lead.

I absolutely loved the ending with Don. It was pure beauty and a little mystical and a wonderful ending for the episode.

I don´t get the whining at all. It was solid enough for me.

We get there eventually. Don´t lose out on the ride.
