And it's understandable that a show will get stale the longer it gets. Back then, a show like this was fresh and funny. I remember enjoying all the episodes of S1, especially the Pilot where we find out that Mitch & Claire are related and Jay is their father.
Nolan is a teenager.  He was so cute when he was a kid.  Sarah was the tallest and now Ariel is the shortest.  __________________

Right? Steve Levitan (the shorunner) was worried about the kids growing up fast when he started the show but it's a chance he took.

I haven't really been watching the show either, but that's partially because I have other shows on Wednesdays and because I really got into Haley/Andy and I'm still not completely over that finale yet.

I haven't seen last week's ep yet but I try to squeeze in and watch an ep when I can. The show has been cruising by lately but it still gives ABC the ratings it wants.

Yeah, seems like the show is still popular and people do still watch it. It's just not as popular as it was before which is understandable.  Quote:

I understand. It's been a chore for me to watch the show now. Last week's ep actually was good, at least one of the SLs. It made me tear up a bit.

Yeah, that's alright. It's really tiresome anyway. I'm only watching out of obligation and because I don't watch a lot of sitcoms these days.

Yeah, all good shows lose their appeal as they get older. For me the best seasons were the first 3, the rest were so-so. They still get a few episodes where they hit all the right marks but there are more episodes where we'll most certainly go "been there done that". I think I just don't find the kids that funny anymore now that they're older. The characters that are still funny to me are Phil, Cam & Gloria. They all still make me laugh.

The kids growing up definitely have an effect.
Shows also just grow stale with time. Additionally sitcoms tend to take character quirks and over exaggerate them over time (i.e. Monica on friends being a clean freak.) __________________
