Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States.
Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism in its militarized ‘return to traditional values'.
As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world.
In this terrifying society, Offred must navigate between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.

You're all welcome. :)

I swear, this is one of those shows where I just need to discuss the ep with anyone who watches the show. And also it's the only show I watch for the day because I get really depressed after and can't even try watching another show to distract me.

stlavin95 02-15-2019 02:16 AM

Thanks for the new thread

Alexa 02-15-2019 03:17 AM

lindsay that is what helps the most though, to watch a funny show right after so it'll ease the hurt lol

stlavin95 02-15-2019 03:26 AM

Good idea lol

JoJoF92 02-15-2019 03:39 AM

it's usually the show I watch last after the others cause I couldn't really move on to more uplifting things right away:lol:

stlavin95 02-15-2019 03:50 AM

Okay

Alexa 02-15-2019 11:36 PM

That's true. I remember having to watch stupid and funny YT videos afterwards just so I can sleep and not think about what happened in the ep. It's that depressing and sometimes I question myself why I bother with so much pain.

Holy crap.

oh all right:lol: I don't think I watch anything more disturbing than this one

L i N d $ @ y 02-16-2019 11:29 PM

^ Me too. This is the closest to real-life so it's pretty disturbing to me.

Alexa 02-17-2019 12:15 AM

It is pretty dreary... but I think other shows are gorier/grosser sometimes.

And Ive watched a bunch of Netflix documentaries that are about REAL people. And real murder, torture, rape etc. Thats more disturbing to me because it actually happened.

JoJoF92 02-17-2019 02:07 PM

oh, that is true. I barely watch any of those cause it'd really devastate me:sigh: of course sometimes you can't stay away and face the truth at once

L i N d $ @ y 02-18-2019 08:51 PM

Oh I don't watch those shows because they can be pretty bleak and depressing. I'd take dystopia over real-life docus.

stlavin95 02-20-2019 03:55 AM

Me too, sport real life docos I like watching though
