Her scenes with Isobel are some of the best on the show. I remember Fellowes saying in an interview that they always save the best lines for Dame Maggie Smith because they know that she will deliver.

Here is an interesting tidbit that is more so linked to Matthew Goode, who is Henry Talbot on Downton.
In the Pride and Prejudice from 1995, the actor that played Wickham (Adrian Lukis | 1st photo), had a guest spot on Downtown during the auction that happened. (2nd photo) Matthew played Wickham in 'Death Comes to Pemberley' the miniseries from 2013 and they oddly look alike!     |
