What did you think about their relationship? I was glad they didn't end up together because both of them wanted something different and it would just not work out.

I liked their journey

but again glad they weren't endgame. I think at some point they learned a lot from each other and no matter what a disaster of relationship they had, they both gained something from it.

I hope that Tom learned his lesson and stopped idealizing the women he falls for. His obsession with Summer was unhealthy, he only saw what he wanted to see, the things that fitted the perfect picture he created in his mind.

Even though their relationship was a mess I loved their interactions, they could be fun - like when they were at Ikea.

It felt very real and although sad that they weren't together beacuse, well, perfect world, it did make a lot more sense for them to go their separate ways.

The reality vs expectation scene is one of my favourite scenes in the move because it felt so real.

That's exactly the reason why they couldn't stay together

I also loved when, before they were together, Tom talks about her at his friends and we can already see how wrong was his "love" and his friends knew it

It was a beautifully done love story, which it still is even though they didn't end up together.

I think it's great that the movie didn't just gloss over Tom's obsession. They showed that it's not cute when a guy doesn't see your flaws, that it can be problematic. I like that approach which is rather rare in movies dealing with romance these days.

(500) Days of Summer;
This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie 'The Graduate'. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent's marriage she'd only love two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.
