I don't think there should be much CGI in this, And if any explosions or whatnot, It'll be practical.

So is it true that digital previs, photography, editing, and release speeds up all four phases (prep, shooting, editing, release) so films can be produced much faster than in yesteryear? With the main delay nowadays being the production of complex CGI special effects?

Less CGI means more time. So you don't have to spend months and months on it in post.
