What she did to Cora in S1 was inexcusable. But I did like that she felt remorse for it and spent S2 trying to help her out whether it was putting Isobel in check and making sure she couldn't control Downton or staying up all night nursing her. Nothing makes up for what she did, but this combined with her treatment of that valet who had shell shock did help make her more human imo.

O'Brien definitely became much more human in S2. Hopefully this arc continues because she's much more interesting when you understand where she's coming from.

Which is why the writing on this show is perfect. Glad that she is more human in s2 and we see that side of her.
