Bumping this I think she did feel depression combined with unhappiness during the 5-7 years after Rumple deserted

She definitely wasn't always a nice character but she was strong and she deserved better.

^ She was a normal, flawed woman. Not perfect. Not a fairytale princess. Just an average woman trying her best and in an unhappy marriage. She doesn't deserve to be target a second time around.

To be thrown in the river of lost souls right after commenting about how lost they all look...She seemed so sad for them. She wasn't the most sympathetic character by far, but ugh, I felt so bad for her at that moment

I would never leave my kids. But if my husband crippled himself on purposeso he couldn't work and I had to work then come home and do all the chores because he was chasing butterflies, I would be pissed enough to speak harshly too. I think she was a very relatable person in this episode.

Plus making a deal that you can't have more kids without discussing it even if she didn't want more kids it's not good

This!

I thought she represented just an everyday, non-magical woman trying the best she can to support the family and raise her son. She didn't deserved to be eternally lost, again. The writers did a nice job making her very sympathetic and paralleling her plight to the present story.

Milah deserved better than she got. I was really hoping that she would reunite with her grandson Henry.

When Rumple told her about the contract, I think that was the last straw for her and after that she was finished with him.

^ posted the gifset because of the costume, but also noticed that the narrative made clear that Milah's life was harder because of her husband's choices.

So the resentment that Austenphile spoke of made sense to her character. Her POV never was taken to account, he made decisions that affected both of them without consultation. No wonder a total stranger that complimented her, and spoke of places where women where cherished would interest her.

She does deserve better.

I totally feel for Milah in this episode. Rumple made a decision that she believed at the time directly affected her and he did it without her consent, and then he pushed her into the River of Souls in the Underworld.

I wish someone would push him into the river.

Milah really deserved so much more. She deserved to be reunited with her son and see the man he had become. I get why she hated Rumple, I do but there's no doubting in this episode that she truly loved her son.

It was really nice for once to see Milah's character more fleshed out too. She gets a bad rap in the fandom because of the way she was introduced in this show but she's her own character too with thoughts and feelings, and it was nice finally to see her side of the story.

Sadly, I think our heroes are going to leave Underworld and never learn about what happened to Milah.
