I found the music sad in this scene... we were meant to feel sad, for what the situation was and currently is with Hook, and what he did and how it effects him and the family in present.

The music was especially excellent in this episode. They played a slow sad variation on pirates theme a few times. The Snowing theme notes jingled under scenes.

It really underscored the tones of the scenes.
