Well, the finale actually starts with them in the enchanted forest. He knows exactly who she is. But some unseen threat is chasing them, and he stays behind to fight it, to let her get away.

The scene in the clip could be them reuniting after some kind of curse separated them and made him forget about her. That's my theory anyway.

Well, I assume they're going to explain in flashbacks how he met her mother.

No one knows as of yet. Hopefully the premiere might shed some light as to the time the story takes place.
