I agree that it does have relevance guys and girls do have false expectations. I do though think that if Emma Bovary have lived she would have divorced her husband or maybe had multiple divorces and not felt so trapped and at least Charles could have blocked her from spending his money. I can see Milah a bit like that but I am not going to elaborate to get on topic.

Belle was a bit naive, but to be fair, she had a reason to believe she could save him. Regina had told her that Rumple's darkness might be due to a curse, but TLK would turn him into an ordinary man again.

Belle doesn't seem to miss him at all (In Skin Deep, she only spoke of him when Rumple asked. She didn't try to find him after the first curse was broken, and she hasn't asked about him.), which kinda indicates that she barely considered him a friend.

And if Belle doesn't miss him.. well, then neither do I.

The thing with Marianne is that it took falling in love with a guy who on the surface embodied all her romantic dreams while overlooking the man who really was the embodiment of her romantic dreams because he had the audacity to wear flannel! Glad she changed her mind and grew up to see Brandon was the man of her dreams!

Belle on the other hand could have made the same mistake in falling for Gaston or Robin but she had the intelligence and common sense to see through the surface and found her true love in a supposed monster!
