And yes, I'm not big on AU fics but there are two on that list that I actually liked, one the one you mentioned. Okay, wasn't sure if you didn't mean sth else. For me it's always been Nate/Blair and therefore - for me Gossip Girl ended when they got back together and kissed in the snow by the frozen lake in Central Park.  But yes, I was never that invested in them as I am here. Seriously, maybe I find another example but not recently... the only time I was so emotional was on Spooks with Ros/Adam because they were just  ...__________________

 I'm seeing so much sadness and disappointment in here  I agree with you guys that the trailers didn't look all that promising for C/L, though I love the small bits we got, but isn't it possible that they held a lot of C/L scenes back from the trailer? I'm still hoping we'll get a lot of good scenes.__________________

I think the ratings for Merlin have still remained pretty steady as far as I know, but that's more because of the cast and because they have increased the budget for CGI and cinematography and everything so it all just looks really good. A majority of the fanbase agrees that the writing of the show is terrible and a waste of a show that had a lot of potential, and as a fan who has been in the fandom series season 1 I have seen them lose fans left and right because of their choices. But here's hoping that nothing like that will happen to C/L. I have more faith in The Borgias writers/creators that they won't make the same mistake the Merlin writers did. Plus, its not like it was with ArMor where initially we didn't know their connection and then the writers freaked about it and backed out. With C/L we've known from the beginning and they've gotten a great fan response so hopefully that helps. And it doesn't hurt that all the interviewers tend to ask Francois and Holly about C/L __________________

Well, the writers and the show-runners can't deny that CL is popular. They're what makes the show, and the family, interesting, IMO

For Merlin - It definitely is a more kiddy show. And I think that's why they freaked out. Because even though they had changed the legends so much, they were afraid that parents who knew about the actual legends would complain. The Borgias are on Showtime and clearly don't have that problem
So I hope they don't back off from C/L. I want tons and tons of scenes in season 2 I'm greedy  And I'm sure Caterina will be an awesome character, but I'm just not really looking forward to her storyline with Cesare  Though that's partly my inner C/L shipper talking. One of the things I love most about C/L is that no love interest will ever mean as much to them as each other and I hope they stay true to that.__________________

Are there still parents out there who care what their children are watching (I mean apart from porn or some really bloody horror movies)? Besides, I mean they never introduced them as half-siblings (don't know how it is spun now but back in the day there was no blood relation indicated on this particular version).
Well, Showtime may not have that problem but NJ clearly does as we have heard in so many interviews. So what I want and what we are going to get are two totally different things. My problem with the Caterina thing - yes, as you said, it's partly my inner CL shipper. Perhaps for the most part, which is I'm also meh about every other character real or made up that is supposed to be the love of either ones life (and steals heaps of screentime with them). However, it also annoys me because of what I wrote above - historically she was his prisoner and he treated her not particularly well. She wasn't a nice person either and I am pretty sure she truly hated him. So... I do not want to see a "romance" of that kind where she is basically forced - albeit NJ will never dare make it actual rape as it might have been historically. I think it debases her as a person to play this as love. I mean I get, yeah - Cesare was a bad guy (with no political foresight as well) but... I'm not particularly picky about him killing some guys who clearly had it coming but I am not able to watch any violent or sexually non/dubcon behaviour when it comes to women (or children but I don't think there's an issue there). __________________
