Well, I have to say that if you pick two actors to play brother and sister, you should be more careful. In season 3 they looked everything BUT siblings.

Well, the conundrum was that Jordan may have said he wanted to avoid incestuous subtext, he also said he wanted to portray Cesare and Lucrezia as two people who would make the perfect spouses if they weren't related to each other. That's a contradiction.

not just in season 3, even from the very first scene they had together in the first episode in S1 when the siblings were lying down in the courtyard together, they were already acting as lovers the dynamic between the siblings was always romantic from the beginning. There were many times throughout the series when I forgot that they're actually siblings because a lot of the times they behaved like lovers thanks to Jordan's overly romanticised writing & dialogues and the magnificent chemistry between Francois & Holly

I remember we've discussed about Jordan's contradictions in the past before...I think it's quite obvious, at least to me, that Jordan was strongly influenced by other people by the time we got to S3. Francois and Holly both challenged his contradictions and Showtime knew the incest between Cesare & Lu became a huge hit with fans instantly, so I'm sure Showtime probably pressured Jordan too.

Hi, Linda! Yep, Season 1 showed how Cesare and Lucrezia acted like lovers from the first episode. I've said that the courtyard scene reminded me of Twilight, but that's probably not a very good comparison. And like I said, Jordan wanted to portray them as people who would be perfect for each other if they weren't siblings. But that was his own folly because it only made fans ship them even more, regardless of the historical rumors of incest. It's clear Jordan didn't gauge his audience well, or his characters and the actors who played them for that matter.

And you know what? I just remembered that Jordan had said that The Godfather was a big inspiration for him, and The Godfather Part III featured an incest storyline between Michael Corleone's daughter and his nephew.

Did you see The Godfather Part III? That's the one that came out in 1990. Michael Corleone's daughter was played by Sophia Coppola. And Michael's nephew was played by Andy Garcia. He was Sonny Corleone's illegitimate son by a woman he'd had an affair with before he was shot to death.
