Cesare: "The whole world whispers, you and I are lovers. Should we prove them right?" Lucrezia: "I want to die, brother." Cesare: "Will you not talk like that, please!" Cesare: "Can I hold him?" Lucrezia: "And wake him? That would be cruelty indeed." Cesare: "I must hold you then." Lucrezia: "But we never before had secrets between us." Cesare: "Some things are better left unsaid." Lucrezia: "So I must divine then, the dark cloud on my brother's soul." Cesare: "You are criminally well informed, sis. But I trust your soul is still of the purest white." Lucrezia: "You will be a handsome Cardinal. Let me hug you!" Cesare: "Lucrezia, sister, share my fortune and my fate. And remember that wherever I may be, a part of me will always be yours." Lucrezia: "As I also belong to you, brother." Lucrezia: "No one here loves me as I was loved by you. I've tried everything, Cesare. No one wants to hear our name." Lucrezia: "My soul dies when I imagine never seeing you again." Cesare: "Lucrezia, Lucia, forgive me. All will be well if you forgive me. But you must live, sweet sister, live. We are one blood, one heart, one spirit." Lucrezia: "Cesare, love me!" Cesare: "For all eternity. Cesare: "Cesare Borgia and Lucrezia, we shall be remembered. Be faithful only to me not to him, the unholy father who prays to a nameless god. You shall have the world, not the hereafter. And your name eternal." Lucrezia: "I shall be duchess of Ferrarra, it's enough for me." Cesare: "In name but nothing more." Lucrezia: "In name and nothing more." Cesare: "I promised you a heart, sister." Lucrezia: "Whose? Your own?" Lucrezia: "What does it say of us, brother, that you promise me this and I would accept?" Lucrezia: "Cesare? I would ask you something.” Cesare: “Then ask and it is yours.” Lucrezia: “I would ask you to marry me.” Cesare: “As you wish. My word is my word. We shall run away. Change our names, perhaps. Live out our days in some small fishing village by the coast. where no one will ever guess who we once were.” Lucrezia: "To Alfonso." Cesare: "Yes, yes, I know." Cesare: "My love for my sister outweighs my grief for my brother." Cesare: "Are you a shepherd of souls now? Lucrezia: "And I see before me a lost sheep." Cesare: "Utterly lost, my love." Lucrezia: "Then, by hook or by crook I shall save you. You may kiss my ring!" Cesare: "Don't I know how to organize a party for my sister?" Lucrezia: "Thank you, Cesare!" Cesare: "And I think I've done well. Look. I'm the one who chose the guests." Lucrezia: "They're all courtesans." Cesare: "Did you desire monks and nuns?" Lucrezia: "Oh, no! No formalities!" Lucrezia: "So then, I shall become a nun. For I shall never love a husband as I love you, Cesare." https://i.imgbox.com/qsH9vylc.png

:yay: 50th thread! Thanks Gwen!

My pleasure  50th milestone, wa-hoo!
From the previous thread - Quote:
Guilt, no  not on Lucrezia's part. I think she feared growing up. The idea of Cesare, who had bedded many women over the years, seeing his younger sister maturing into a woman who sexually longed for him, probably terrified her - in a naturally insecure way that many people feel when they're in the presence of someone they love. As for Neil Jordan, I think he definitely saw the incestuous love between Ces and Lu  but for some weird reason, he was too fearful to bring it into the show at first. (I say "weird," because this is the same man who brought Interview With The Vampire to the screen, which NEVER held back upon sexuality :eyebrow:) I think he was conscious of audiences adjusting to it, and didn't want to delve straight into the taboo nature of incest immediately, for fear of driving some people away. |
Thanks so much for the new thread, Gwen! And I love the title! Man, I wish Arinna had done something special for our 50th thread, but I guess she wasn't paying attention.
Hi, Lila!  Aww, it's okay, I'm not a computer person either. I basically find avatars on Google. I hope you can get a custom avatar. I think there are people on FF who make them. And I don't mind your long posts, Lila. Don't worry, I'll reply to them. I just fall behind sometimes because I'm moderating three boards. Let me repost all the posts from the previous thread: Quote:

She'd watched Ces have sex from his bedroom window, so she knew how confident and experienced he was. That must have been intimidating, plus knowing it was incest and not being certain how he would react when she thought of seducing him. After they had sex, she was still insecure, because he kept pushing her away. She used Alf to provoke his jealousy to get him to show his love for her. When he kissed her so passionately on the ride to Rome from Naples, she was in heaven. Him showing his love for her in front of her husband and his men, pleased her enormously, because she had no shame or guilt about loving him. She would've happily shouted it to the world if she could've. To her, he was her lover, the man she loved. That he was also her brother wasn't a factor; she was a woman lost in love. But for him, she was first his little sister and he was drowning in shame and guilt for making her his lover. He was desperately in love, but couldn't get over thinking he'd failed her by giving in to his lust. I love what Alex said about Lu turning this experienced man into acting like a virgin school boy around her after she showed up naked :) I felt her anguish when he practically sprinted away from her the day after they had sex :broken_heart: When Rodrigo asked if her wedding night brought her everything she could desire, she wanted to scream YES! She blushed & looked at Ces over Rodrigo's shoulder with a big smile on her face. But he wasn't smiling! He was horrified by Rodrigo's comment. And then looking at her after Rodrigo walked away, you could see what he was thinking: "OMFG I ****** my little sister! I can't face her!". He always ran when he couldn't face her, didn't he? Poor Lu :bawl: Her smile changed to such sadness, she was barely holding back tears. She'd fallen desperately in love with her brother the night before and was so happy to see him. All she wanted was to be in his arms :in_love: No woman wants to feel that the man she loves regrets making love to her! I can't watch that scene without my heart breaking for both of them :bawl: That's what I think too about NJ. He didn't want people thinking that he personally approved incest and was afraid of audience reaction. Coward. Quote:

Aww, no problem! And there's always #100 to aim for! :D :bunny:  |
Oh, I can't wait for #100, Gwen!

Awww, I'm glad you can talk with your boyfriend about The Borgias, Lila. And we appreciate you as well. We've missed having people here to talk about The Borgias and Cesare and Lucrezia. We'll always keep The Borgias alive. |

Yes :irked: I think he wanted to test the waters with the audience and see what they reacted best to during the show. Ironically, it was Ces/Lu sexual chemistry that heightened people's interest :eyebrows: so by Season 3, he'd clearly made up his mind to just go with it. Francois had been telling him to do so since the very first episode :spank: Quote:
AWWWW, tis our pleasure ;) We love talking about the show and particularly this couple http://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploa...-hug-gif-8.gif |

I love that gif, Arinna! One of my favorite scenes!
Aww, thanks for giving the virtual hug, Gwen!  And I agree, NJ was cowardly when it came to Cesare and Lucrezia's relationship. Today he'd be considered tame by HBO standards. Quote:
Oh, Lucrezia pulling that trick by implying that she seemed ugly to herself was very sly, because she was putting Cesare in a position where he had to admit that he not only found her attractive, but desirable. ;) She was hooking him and roping him in. Yeah, I did get her teasing Cesare, Lila. It's what women do well. What surprised me is how awkward Cesare was because this wasn't exactly his first time, yet Lucrezia made him seem like a virgin. OMG, that Madonna song totally fits! |
Great quality and coloring in the gif Arinna!

In season 3 bloopers, there's a clip of them in bed and she's naked. They're laughing and he lies nearly on top of her with his hands all over. The only thing covering her is part of the wedding dress and it gets pushed away. He was very familiar with her body from the way he was touching her & she looks comfortable with it. I hope they did hook up, because with chemistry like that, it would be a crime against nature not to   Quote:
Lu used her wedding dress as a seduction prop  Alf became a joke between CL, didn't he? When Ces kissed her, Alf was history! She didn't think he would ever make a move. The night they made love, Ces said "no, Lucrezia, you cannot", and she said "BUT I MUST!" She knew it would be up to her to make it happen. Lu was so devious  it only SEEMED like she went to Ces after Alf rejected her. That's because SHE made the audience, as well as Ces, think that. Even after he kissed her, she knew he was still playing games. It was INCEST, but she didn't care - she..just..wanted..him. She knew he'd need convincing to cross the line. Like you said, Alex, a woman's most powerful weapon is her body. A hunter stuns the prey first and then kills it  She stunned him with her nakedness and when he was completely stupefied, she went for the kill by making him admit his lust and pulling him onto bed. Telling Ces that Alf wouldn't touch her was a subtle way of letting him know she wasn't having sex with another man. Telling him Alf was a virgin showed her disdain for him and pumped Ces' ego cause he was no virgin  She knew the mention of Alf made Ces jealous and possessive. She provoked his jealousy while soothing his ego to soften the blow. Yes, I know, devious - but effective ;) She had to continue to provoke him into touching her, saying she felt unloved & finally, with a tear rolling down her cheek, she flat out confronted him with "you look but don't touch". The girl had to hit him over the head :hammer_head: :lmao: Gwen had a great point: when you love someone, no matter how experienced you are, you can feel insecure with them. He loved her so much, he was probably overwhelmed with insecurities. While he was a Casanova with every other woman, only Lu could make him feel doubts as a lover, a man, about being able to please her. Like A Virgin song playing in the background...:bunny: |
Alex  the irony with NJ wanting to put up sexual boundaries is that he stayed true to the taboo themes in Interview With The Vampire, and in The Borgias, he made Juan the sleaziest + most embarrassing sibling imaginable yet when it came to L/C, he held back until the very last season.

Then later in church, she teased him saying "surely marriage is good" when he told her she'd never marry if he could help it. They both were playing the want & wanting game  |
Very true. Most of their younger years were clearly spent with them pushing each other's buttons and Cesare seeing how long he could tease her before she made a move
