And her dialogue...all of it was so perfect, mostly lifted right from the book. "I only held him that once..." ETA: Gorgeous scene... Quote:

But in the end she failed him.
But she SO DIDN'T. Like Jaime said - - "how would YOU fight a shadow?" There was nothing she could have done for Renly. __________________

My poor Brienne.
She was fantastic in this ep, loved every bit of her scenes. Although I didn't really care for Renly, never did, to see Brienne's grief made me feel so sad. Gwen nailed it, she captured those feelings perfectly. And how BADASS was she in that fight scene, pure epicness. She can handle a SWORD, watch out Kingslayer. Thanks for the gifs ladies, love them all. __________________

Someone elsewhere (a non-book reader friend on another board) just said that they thought Brienne's reaction to Renly's death was overdone.
That makes me so sad. People who haven't read the books can't understand the depth of Brienne's devotion to Renly, or the reasons for it, because it hasn't been shown on-screen. Once again, I just can't imagine watching this show and not knowing the deeper history of these characters. They're all just so rich, there's so much to them...but the show is barely scraping the tip of the 'berg. Quote:

Is Gwendoline even a real human being? It's like she was plucked directly from the books. She has blown me away!

I think it was obvious... the lovestruckness when she said "I only ever held him that once"

It's so sweet how she feels the need to have someone to devote herself to..

Totally!
Thanks for posting the scenes and the art, Kat. And if Brienne's reaction was overdone, then they should take a look at some other characters. Pff, overdone my ***. __________________

Oh wow! Great posts.
I've really been looking forward the Brienne's vow to Cat and their interaction in general. Oh I loved that scene. As far as Renly's death goes... Brienne is very... EARNEST. She's very PROUD. I think she takes herself very seriously. She takes being a knight very seriously. There's no halfway with her. She's 1000% in... or eying you cautiously from behind her walls. LOL! So I can see why people might think it's over the top but I think it's perfect for her. She's so wounded. And she's got her emotional armor on. I just... it works for me. I cried when she cried for Renly. The whole situation breaks my heart. She finally found someone who accepts her as she is and honors her with knighthood. THEN she can't even fight for him. I mean... all her strength and training and ... she couldn't fight!!! Can't wait for more Brienne/Cat stuff. Even the visuals of Brienne being Cat's bodyguard ... just delightful. __________________
