You see all the benefits of the Free Folk!
One year (or season) with them and he's more confident becoming a leader and not anymore just the little bastard.

He's always been a leader. His time with the freefolk was just a lesson in seeing both sides.

I agree with you, he always had leader qualities and a good soul starting from the first season.
Really enjoy him in this season with his brothers at the Wall again. Missed this

love Jon as a fierce leader who interrupts Allister to confirm what's on his mind.

This is great! He has clearly learnt from the strong male role models from his past - Ned, His uncle, lord commander and the Halfhand...but I do think his bolishness (such as interrupting Allistet) has come from his time with the free folk

Don't be afraid by words. He's a bastard..we don't know who are his parents or his mother so he's a bastard. There is nothing pejorative in it.
Jon since the first season/book has leader qualities he just needed some "help" to express them all.

This! So we can add Tormund in the paternal figures.

I guess on the show, but Mance has such a greater true impact on him in the books. He really sees a new and different model of leadership and what it takes to be a leader from his time with Mance.

You've probably just made Enoras night with that comment...she's a bit of a Mance fan

I adore Mance. I'm just not crazy about the show version of him. The book version of Mance is such an interesting person and different type of leader than what Jon has seen in the past. Mance's place in the far north is based on ability & charisma, whereas what Jon has seen his whole life is based on birth & inheritance. Even at the Wall, the Sers and noble born are fast tracked to leadership. In the far north Jon sees a bastard - like himself as far as he knows - who has risen to become a king on his own wits & abilities. Which does broaden his perspective of what makes a leader.
