X I love the character development for Effie's character in the second reaping. Elizabeth did an amazing job sharing so many conflicting emotions in just a few moments. In that scene alone Effie gained depth and empathy from the audience. __________________

The character growth was amazing in every movie! The way she was so upset when they got reaped again (Peeta volunteering) and the emotional goodbye on the train, giving them matching items to show they're a team, and in MJ, being aware of what's happening and trying to be there for Katniss.

It just goes to show how much she truly cares, and how even the people over in the Capitol could have a similar connection if they knew the truth. Another reason I love the ending to Book III and Katniss' reason for it.

^ I love that connection, Melanie! Effie was one of the few looks into the Capital mentality- she was just the product of her society but at her core she was the same as anyone else in any of the other district.

Exactly The Capitol people were pretty much brain-washed into not thinking what the Hunger Games really are. So when Effie got a peek into how things are and she got attached to Katniss and Peeta, she was able to see beyond what the Capitol wanted her and everyone to see.
Love that comparison graphic! |

She had an amazing evolution, she was so emotional during the second reaping and you can tell how much she was relieved when Haymitch name was first called, and still so sad about what those poor guys were about to live again. Such a different attitude compared to the way she acted in the first reaping. She realized what the Hunger Games truly meant and she showed us all her true sympathetic nature |

She did. Even though she complained at first for the district, she grew to love the team and respect them.

I'm back and forth cause she's one of the few that I actually pictured like that in the books.
