It does seem very fitting that if DS are in a good place that SE should be as well. It may seem optimistic but I have to agree that if DS find that better place and fit then it would have to be because Damon found his place or role in both their lives. Right now that seems to be the problem. Damon doesn't have Ric anymore so he really doesn't have anyone.

Moreover, I just can't see S/D being in a 'good place' while he's going after Elena, which is why I think we're going to be getting a little break from the triangle soon.

I'm still wondering who Damon's replacement for Ric is going to be. Not that they could ever 'replace' him, IMO, but Julie indicated that Damon's journey this season would be to find a new best friend. Her hints were that it could be someone unexpected--or that it could be Stefan, or even Elena. That would be kind of ironic if him backing off because of realizing their incompatibility and an attempt to save his relationship with Stefan resulted in D/E becoming a completely platonic friendship--at least for awhile.

But I think I would kinda prefer it to be Stefan. If the brothers somehow become 'best friends' again, Damon might actually start to see that he could lose something important by going after Elena all the time.

It's true. But Damon sorts of 'gets him back' later on.

There was an actual good moment between S/D at the end of the episode. It's not enough to get me on 'Team Defan' just yet, but it's a start.

Yeah, I did. The 'breaking in to get them' was actually done very inventively. The drama came from Stefan trying to get him out alive, and the other hostages trying to keep April in the dark. There were at least two callbacks to season 1 in the episode, too. Not to mention a FREAKY cliffhanger.

Also- Carina SO forgot to mention that Elena's actually angry at BOTH brothers, not just Stefan.

I don't wan't to give too much away, because I'm sure Julie and co don't want people spoiling the ep ahead of time. Not that it'll stop everyone, but I don't want to add to the trouble. Just vague little 'hints' from me.

I was like 'they FINALLY use their vampire powers for something awesome, and it happens off-screen'? Sorry for being a total guy, but I'd have loved to see him do that. Guess they're saving their special effects budget for the real freaky stuff later in the season.

ETA- Someone post the promo for next week NOW. I'm hearing that Katherine is in it, and that fact puts all our worries about episode stills into question. Also, possible D/K scenes and possible 'Elena being overprotectively jealous over Stefan' scenes.

I don't know how to feel about the episode. I have seen it whole yet. While I loved the DS moment and I loved Damon saying he was doing it for Stefan. I just felt like the writers were trying to tell me Damon was the better man because he loved Elena both ways.
